Default ADD calories, REMOVE calories...

I have a new idea and want to know if it is something others do..
I am definitely an emotional eater, and sometimes even just extreme boredom eater, and anytime I mess up, I feel awful, avoid socialising and try to get back on track the next day.
Also, I find that depending on the time of the day I mess up, it could affect the rest of the day (I end up restricting) and most likely lead to another binge the next day.

SO.

It's after lunch time, and I'm already at my daily limit. BAD.
Should I have dinner as normal, say 300-400 calories, then for the next four days continue as normal, minus 100 calories per day?

Will this work over all? I know some people track calories weekly not daily, so just curious.

Thanks!!

It works much better for me if I try to make up for it over the course of the week as opposed to that day or all the next day. So, if I blow it by 400 or 500 calories or so, it's a lot easier for me to just subtract 100 for the next few days. FitDay has a report that lets you see your nutrition info weekly just as it pops up daily in the food log; that's helpful.

Thanks CJohnson, good to know it's something others do too.
Yes, trying to make up the day and the next is hard and leads to more bingeing I think...

hey - i felt like u were talking about me when u were describing ur overeating spiral! i totally understand how u feel! I try to eat about 1500 calories everyday. If i over eat that by lunch - then i do an extra workout when i get home, before eating a low calories dinner. if i end up midnight snacking, then i do it the next day. a 1 km jog in 15 minutes burns about 100 calories. Knowing that i have to run 15 mins for every 100 extra cals i eat is a very good deterent!
just remember, if u do overeat, don't beat ur self up so much-u can make it a better day tomorrow! and definatly don't deprive ur self of food - it'll make u more likely to bing again, and its not good for ur body! ur metabolism functions better when u eat frequent small meals! I try to focus meal by meal - and if i have a bad lunch, i tell my self i shouldnt have, but now that i did - better eat a healthier meal next time!
hope this helps!
Good luck!

I think it is a great idea to spread your calories over a week rather than stick to the same amount every day. think about it....some days you might do more exercise, or have to go out for dinner , or it is a work mates birthday. it is good to know you can simply say yes on one day and no the next. Only you control what you eat and how much so youhave the ability to be completely flexible. Just average it out over 7 days - but count it all.

Hey C-Johnson, I just wanted to ask what height you were? I am currently at your starting weight, just started, and also would in the long run like to get to your goal weight as well. Did you find it hard reaching your goal weight? I really need some guidance. Sorry for hijacking this post

Hi cubbyprincess, I'm 5'2" if I raise up a bit . Probably technically 5' 1.75, or something like that. I will say that getting to goal took patience...there were some plateaus along the way, but the support here was excellent and that helped me stick with it when I never had before. There is a 5-15 Pound thread in the Women's Only area that was great; you can jump on over there and ask any questions you want. I actually continued to lose while I figured out maintenance; that part was tricky because it's hard to get your brain around adding calories back in.
