Hi,

Welcome to the site! Using Fitday has been transformational for me and I've been able to extol its virtues to many people and they have all been seeing the benefits of losing excess weight by portion control which has been huge in educating myself and others.

Another really important point I have discovered very recently but the quality of food that you eat can make a difference to your weight loss. I've moved over to having almost 100% whole foods and that has helped further with weight loss, it takes more time but making your own soup for example is tastier and has no preservatives or excessive amounts of salt that cause water retention.

Set yourself a goal, be realistic don't try and lose 20 lbs in a month or less. It won't work. From my experience, losing a 1 or 2 lb a week has been manageable, I've set a number of weight loss goals to reach my eventual goal of losing 53 lbs to my goal weight of 180 lbs.

In terms of exercise, using a good running shoe is very important and if you are planning on running getting properly fitted is key. Find a specialist running shoe retailer rather than the run of the mill big sport stores, they won't be any good at giving you the right advice for your running style. Starting slow and making small strides constantly is better than falling down after a big leap. As the Chinese proverb goes, the Journey of a a thousand miles starts with a single step.

Good luck
