Accepting "compliments"

The world is such a happier place when you assume good intention, and try to return it. My favorite compliments come from ladies at the Y - my Y is in Chinatown, English language and American Culture are new to many of the members.
The sweet older Chinese ladies look at me and say "so skinny now" with big smiles - yes, it means they've been watching progress, but they are cheering me on, and I'll treasure it.

Funny thing happened today. I stopped at Subway for a sandwich. I go in to this particular location maybe twice a month and the same people always work there. Apparently the one employee recognizes me from my visits. She came to ring me up and said, "Have you lost weight? Your face looks thinner...I didn't mean...I lost 65 pounds myself..." LOL. I just thanked her and said that was awesome what she accomplished. She totally was trying to pay a compliment and then realized it could have been taken the wrong way. Assume the best.
