I have to share my mini rice pilaf disaster!

I'm trying to cook double and triple batches of healthy meals every day and freeze. I made an "expensive" rice pilaf recipe using cashews and dried apricots and pistachios, and I tripled it...but I used the rice I had on hand instead of the brown basmati the recipe called for and just set the timer and didn't check the rice. Now I have overcooked MUSH pilaf! Oh well, I'll tell my daughter it's "fancy breakfast porridge" and make her eat it for breakfast for the next 3 months...JK.

Question for the ladies: I just want to know if this is normal -- I went to buy new underwear/bras yesterday as my old ones are either too big or all stretched out. I had been a 38DD when I started losing weight, then when I got re-fitted I was told I was a 38C. I got re-fitted again yesterday (about 6 months later) and I am now a 36 D -- so uh, the cup went up when the band went down? The fitter said that it sometimes happens in the process of losing inches that the shape of the cup changes too, but I was confused. However, the 36D's do seem to be fitting! Sheesh. What the heck?

I prefer nights like that as quiet "date nights" of a sort to going out for dinner and a movie or other things like that. Not only is it cheaper, but I feel like we talk and connect more while things are cooking slowly on the grill. I feel like when we go out to eat that we get absorbed in looking at the menu or talking about frivolous things. Is it just me, or do you all feel that way too? BF and I had a lovely conversation about the future, job prospects, the educational system, and just lots of great topics.

All in all I have mixed thoughts about food yesterday. I just had a snack attack and while I am proud of myself for "controlling" my snacks and cheats by portioning them, I'm upset at myself that I had them at all. I know it was stress that was making me eat, but it's going to be a stressful week and I just have to roll with it and NOT medicate with food. I got contacted for another phone interview this week, so that's TWO that I need to go through (I still hate phone interviews!) but I'm hoping that at least something will pan out on the job front, and that will be a HUGE load off of my mind.
I'm not a warrior, I'm a stubborn fat chick, once I've eaten something it's MINE and unless there is divine intervention, no force on earth can take it from me.

The cup business is normal. Your bra cup is not dependent on the actual size of your goods, it's dependent on the difference between your bust and your under bust measurements, 1-2" difference is an A cup, 2"-4" is a B cup, 4"-6" a C cup, so forth and so on. If you compare the DD on a 42" against the DD cup on a 36" they are not the same size at all! The rule for an ill fitting bra is up a circumference, down a cup size or down a circumference up a cup. So technically speaking a 36D and a 38C have approximately the same payload (cup size). So you did not get bigger boobs losing weight, they actually stayed the same and you lost some fat around your rib cage and back, a win-win to be sure.

I love "stay-at-home" date night. Sometimes I get my mom to take the kids and I'll put steaks and veggies on the grill and make a batch of stuffed mushroom caps, that's love food talking in our house. Another way to get DH to open up is to take a car ride somewhere. With a steering wheel in his hands, DH is a veritable chatter box.

I think measuring out a cheat is a great way to cave in with control. Okay so it wasn't the best way you could have handled it, but you did handle it and things did not get out of control. And that's what matters in the long run. I'm proud of you.

Default Thank you Amy.

That's real helpful. I like to learn from what other people do. I'm great for making plans, but often try to do too much and then discouraged. I have to learn what is truly feasible.

I continue to work out what I do daily/weekly. Then as the kids get older, they can do more around the house. That part I love.

Right now I'm experimenting with times & tasks.

I'm thinking that if in the mornings I do Kitchen & Clothing (Laundry) & a bit of Cleaning, that gets me off to a good start. Along with that, I'm finally starting to automatically think about exercise. I just need to get up earlier, but as you may see by my posts, I was dealing with some insomnia last night.

I may add on to goals to be in bed by a certain time SO that I get my morning routine done before everyone else is up and before it gets hot outside. I think if I'd have 2 -3 hours that would be about right.

Oh yes, I know that follow through on laundry is quite a challenge. I'm working on that angle too.

Everybody’s sick, what’s going on?!

I got home after the gym last night and had terrible heartburn and upset stomach. Either had some bad chicken for lunch or the mild stomach flu… ug~! I ate only 3 bites of dinner last night and barely kept it down. Calories stayed under 1k for Monday, which is the only good thing about the situation. Today I am sticking to crackers and Gatorade.

Good news – I actually got up to a slow run on the treadmill yesterday (before the flu thing hit)! It felt really good, and the chondromalacia in my knee did not act up since I had the mill set on a slight incline.

Nutrition goals
1 – Water 64oz/day. M-Yes;
2 – Calories max of 1500/day. M-Yes
3 – No food after dinner each night. M-Yes
4 – Follow Stay Clean Pact! M-Yes
5 – Exercise more – Gym 3x this week; treadmill, stairmaster & weights. M-Yes
6 – Pre-log food as much as possible. M-Yes

Family/Home Goals
1 - Hubby is off work all week; try to not get on each other’s nerves! M-No

Eat Clean Pact – Forbidden Foods
1 - Any pre-packaged sweets – cookies, candy, candy bars, etc.
2 - Donuts, bagels
3 - Ranch, thousand island, blue cheese or any similar type of dressing
4 - Soda
5 - Deep fried foods like French fries, tostadas, chips, etc. (baked chips are ok)

A few notes before I dive into work today… wish I could spend more time, but those darn deadlines…

Mern – You poor thing! Take it easy today and take care of yourself. Coleslaw can take anyone down and out for a while. But the cabbage portion is full of vitamins if that helps take the pain away a little bit. An evening of carb binging won't take you down for long. hope you feel better soon.

Amy – You poor thing too! I hear ya about the flu thing. I am working through it today as well… stay strong and good luck with your presentation this evening!

Nobe – OMG! I hope your work situation gets better this week. Sometimes walking is the best thing in the end – speaking from experience…

Luv – Way to go yesterday with all the Yes’s! I like that you have mind & heart goals.

Mike – Good news on your 1 policy so far this week! I keep hearing about some scary steel toed pointy boots you have. Picture?

Enjoy your tuesday everyone

So now I really have to get my you-know-what off of this chair and work those goals.

Life Goals ... (some of these may be weekend goals)
1. Finish laundry M: Yes,
2. Wash dog bedding M: No,
3. Put new carpet scrubber to use (weekend) at least one level of house M-F: N/A,
4. Despite carpet cleaning still do good house cleaning too M-F: N/A,
5. Do some form of yard work M-F: N/A,

Good day yesterday! Nothing really interesting to report though, LOL! ... Oh one thing... I was on the phone with a coworker this morning and he said he saw me out walking yesterday and that if I dont' watch what I am doing by July or so this year I am going to have to start eating. LOL ... Like I don't eat!

Quinn ... What a busy day you had! I LOL'd at the 27 Dresses reference. ... No more p/t conferences? That must be a bittersweet moment!

JHO ... Ahhhh a teething baby. Aren't they great? ... I love the get your kids outside goal. I think that too many people don't do this often enough. ... Did you hubby actually do crunches with you?

Ruby ... That Halloween candy link was just NOT RIGHT! LOL They do look delicious though and I only looked at the first one that came up.

Tori ... Running? You go girl! Maybe you can run along & yell at Mike during next years race.

Mern ... I am so happy to be in 20's. When I was 15 and got together with my hubby I was in 18's and @240lbs. So to be in 20's at 259 seems like I should be able to go down another size to be 18's at 240 again and be dating weight. Wonder how long I need to lose those 19 lbs to get there? Hmmmm!!!! ... Sorry about your carb binge but at least it is behind you. Do some damage control and move on. .. HOpe you get to feeling better. That sounds miserable.

Luv ... Really for me any weight lost puts me at a new lowest FD weight. I just happened to think that I have broken through the 260 plateau that I was stuck on and bounced back up to 265 and am finally under 260. Hopefully to stay there! ... All the family compliments this weekend were kind of unexpected. They aren't a mushy bunch and are really generally in a not good physical shape. ... You better lookout because you landed on Mike's list!

Craziegirl ... sorry about your dog. I hope that the new diet is able to help her feel better.

Nobe .. Wow. that has to be the worst bday that I have heard about in a long time. I hope you don't end up out of work over it too.

Boo ... That is a lot of workout classses. How do you fit them all into a week?

Ruby ... Ease back into it. No point in harming yourself and then not being able to do anything at all.

Hope ... You did great on your goals yesterday!

Amy ... I think your barf talk was like reverse food porn! LOL

I got in only one mile of aerobic walking DVD--just couldn't go even a tenth of a mile further. My face feels like it's about to burst open from the sinus pressure. Bad headache is milder now, though. I'll try to do the second mile later if I have a point in the day when my allergies are bothering me less.

Amy, wishes for a speedy recovery to your household. Great job on your health goals yesterday.

Mike, best wishes on the policy writing.

Quinn, aw, that's nice that you went dress shopping with your DD. Very good job on your goals yesterday considering how busy you were. It definitely is a perk to be out of the K-12 system. Oh, man, yeah, I do feel like "just shoot me." I am trying to flood myself with tons of liquids and homemade, incredibly delicious veggie soup.

Jho, how old is Makenna? Do you have a product in Canada that you can use to numb the pain? We have a topical anesthetic called Orajel that is approved by many pediatricians. Nice job on your goals yesterday and kudos on your exercise. LOL on FitDay juicy gossip and your fear of taking out your eye with a whip. Bigger LOL on my being "awesome" but thanks. JFK was such a player-didn't know he was messing with Marilyn until after he died. He messed with a LOT of women. At least Jimmy Carter just "lusted in his heart." Sheesh! Enjoy your cleaning. I made soup this morning--other than that I'm gonna pamper myself because I'm wallowing in self-pity over my seasonal sinus allergies.

Hope, fabulous job yesteray. I knew you lost 4 and gained 2 back, but you KEPT 2 lbs. off and that's commendable! Thanks for your kind words. My carbs planned for today will be only from low carb veggie soup and a couple protein shakes. My only other planned food is low sodium deli roast beef. I hope that will hold me over until tomorrow. What was your sad little low carb breakfast you mentioned to Crazigerl?

Luv, since Ama wasn't last in your list, I guess you already had her. I was just too lazy to go look. Great job yesterday! Congrats on trying a new calorie limit. Takes time sometimes to adjust. I'm still having a hard time balancing my nutrition goals since giving up my daily half avocado. I THINK my tummy may be able to handle fewer calories, but am not certain, so I still have my limit written as 1600.

Crazigerl, hard to keep up with this bunch. Congrats on your eating yesterday. Wishing your doggie comfort and you less work cleaning up after her.

Nobe so sorry your birthday sucked! Yes, today is a new day. Big hug to ya!

Weightlossboo, thanks for sharing your quite interesting story. And major kudos on coming back. In a nutshell, I was having trouble losing weight and it turned out I was pre-diabetic and didn't know it. Ten months ago I found a new doctor who also determined I have high cholesterol and high triglycerides. She is serving as my doctor AND dietician in person and through email between office visits. She helped me get my blood sugar back down to normal levels with no medication and is now doing the same to help me bring down cholesterol and triglycerides with diet alone. My ultimate goal is 150 lbs. and I'll reassess my goals from there. At 65 I'm not aiming for the figure of a 20 year old--I just want to be as healthy as possible and feel and look better in my clothes.

ruby, great job. Personal question--does that spotting and bleeding have to do with the diastis recti at all or is it something else related to your recent pregnancy? Also, what does your doc say about exercise at this point?

Okay, I just learned more about bras than I ever knew! That's interesting. This is going to sound funny but I did notice less fat that was squishing out under my arms from the side of my bands recently, so I guess that's less rib fat? The weird things we understand with the light of knowledge...

I'll remember that about the car rides. I tend to drive more often than BF does, which is weird, cause he always tells me he hates the way I drive. I think he just likes to complain. But I think you're right that he does talk more in the car. Obviously all distractions need to be gone... I've just noticed recently that we talk more when we're doing something that takes time and usually requires the both of us.

You'd have laughed if you saw WHY I measured it. I marched in the house and made a beeline for the Tostitos. I knew they were there and I had been eyeballing them for days. I originally grabbed the bag and went to shove my face in it, but then I stopped short when I left the kitchen. I had just recently washed the food scale bowl and it was sitting on the drying rack, which is the last thing you see before you leave our kitchen. I looked down at it, looked at the bag, sighed, and said "Okay, okay, food gods, I'll measure out whatever fits in a little bowl." (Does anyone else talk out loud to the food gods? >.>)

It's funny because the food scale was not in its normal position, so if it hadn't been out to dry I wouldn't even have seen it for the reminder, so I guess I'm glad it was there! Thanks for the pride, I'll take it, cause I still feel sheepish!

This is so ME! I do NOT puke! I have thrown up about 5 times during the 19 yrs that I have been with hubby. All separate incidents. I get the stomach flu and feel horrible but mine goes the other way and I may 'get sick' one time. And the 5th time that I threw up I was in labor so that don't even count! LOL
