Addicted to sugar

Careful!
Check your calories on the almonds...1 oz. is 160 calories and that is 22-24 nuts, way less than a cup (unless you are talking about a cup with the almonds still in the shell).
According to FitDay, 1 cup of almonds (no shells) is over 800 calories.

hey - I'm new here, but hadta say I'm definitely in the same boat as you. Way addicted to sugar.
I tend to go by the 14 day slogan - if I can resist and/or try something new for a consistent 14 days, it becomes habit and much easier to maintain. Now if only I can get 14 sugar-free days under my belt..literally..

Struggling with the sugar demon too. As soon as I clean out the cupboards, someone else in the house brings more in....hard to slay that demon with children in the house, Valentine's day school parties, Easter coming up soon, and overly generous grandmas on both sides......HELP!! lol

Yup, ladies, me too. If I totally gave up sugar, I'd never have to track my calories. But then, I wouldn't have the privilege of giving and receiving support from you all. Amazing, how my defense mechanism of rationalization sounds so...rational to me!
For me, sugar is absolutely an addiction and there's a real physical component. Usually when I do buy sweets I get the individual serving sizes in VERY limited quantities. That way I let the manufacturer limit my portion size. I pay more but it helps. I agree with everyone else that not eating it in the first place will lessen the cravings as time goes on. I just haven't hit that level of readiness to totally abstain forever. Yet. But I usually limit myself to once a week when I am trying to decrease body fat.

Sugar and bread are my downfalls so I just stay far away from both of them. lol And believe, it's easier said than done. I do use sugar in my AM coffee but have cut it way down...and when I get to work I use Splenda. Not a big fan of Splenda or Equal products so I limit my use of them.
I have found that once your body adjusts to not having that sugar, the cravings do go away. The key is not to reintroduce your body to sugar or it will begin to crave it again.
