Great week to be Canadian -- No turkey to worry about this week. I am doing a 5 day - 5 food detox. My goal is to stick to it till saturday morning. So far so good. Mary

Wow, y'all have written such touching posts that I almost feel like I would be 'jumping on the bandwagon' to write one of my own. Just suffice it to say that everything that has already been said... I feel the same way too! I don't think I would be where I am today without you guys to talk to about it and I just love you guys!!!

I did my recap on the last page of last week's thread. It looks like I ended up at 276.6 after being 275.0 on Saturday but as of today, Monday, my official weigh in day I am 274.6 which somehow is exactly where I wanted to be at the end of last goal week so I am considering it a success! So that is 5.6lbs down in 7 days (Monday - Monday) Woohoo! Wonder if I can do it again? I'm thinking not with Thanksgiving in the middle of it but I'm going to give it a hell of a try again!

I'm sorry that I can't reply to all of you today. I have read the posts and I see lots of motivation and I know that we can all make this week great!

Health / Fitness Goals ...
1. 100 oz water daily (up from my usual 80)
2. No added salt to my plate
3. One diet soda daily limit
4. Walk on lunch at work M: raining but went 3/4mile anyway,
5. Exercise 3 times W-F (yes, this includes Thursday)

Life Goals ...
1. Finish paperwork for son
2. Clean house on Thanksgiving while hubby works so I can get my tree on Saturday and spend the weekend decorating instead of cleaning
3. Enjoy Thanksgiving with my family

Our Thanksgiving won't be the big family get together that some have described. Unfortunately our families aren't close and the ones that we are close with don't live close enough. It will be me, the hubby and the boys. I do like having it small though too. Although sometimes it doesn't really seem all that much of a holiday other than a big dinner. My hubby has to work that day too (every year) so we will have our dinner at about 5pm. It's nice to have all day for the prep though. I love feeding my family.

April, that's a great drop in 7 days. Our Thanksgiving will be like yours, just us. Food wise it'll be bad! I'll probably start the morning with Grands Cinnabon Cinnamon Rolls. Unfortunately we cook as if there's going to be 50 people and before you know it, everyone is sick of leftovers. Some like ham, others like turkey, so we do both. Too many sides and too many desserts. Before it's all said and done I'll end up with turkey noodle soup and white beans and rice (with the ham bone). It will truly be a miracle if I can stay clean on Friday or through the weekend.

Well I didn't want to put the food porn out there but here is my planned menu for Thanksgiving in white for those who don't want to see it...

Turkey, stuffed with homemade stuffing...a tray of stuffing for those who like it drier...mashed potatoes...candied yams...corn...turkey gravy from scratch...noodles in turkey broth...dinner rolls...pumpkin & apple pies with cool whip...decadent desserts from one of my vendors

We'll have leftovers for a few days and the turkey breasts will be frozen for later use. We wait to do ham at Christmas and I love to use the leftover ham bone for potato soup.

Mike ... Thanks for the congrats on my loss. It wasn't as easy to take off as it was to put on and basically put my progress about 2 weeks behind but I am taking it as a learning lesson. I didn't say the heck with it and just throw away all my progress and I definitely saw how hard it was to take off compared to putting it on. Weird how I got back to the identical weight as I was two Mondays ago though.

Congrats on the loss, April, and enjoy your delicious dinner.

Mike, I still don't see your rant. Did you start it on your own page or were you responding to someone else?

Just got back from groceries with my mom and sister; said sister and I got into a disagreement because she was trying to argue that nothing in Panera Bread is healthy. Of course the muffins aren't, dummy, but hello??? Soups? Salads?? We spent two hours at the store(s - more than one). We put my mom in the motorized cart and many hysterics ensued. I'm kind of worried about her; her legs are very, very swollen and tight. She's got a doctor's appointment tomorrow so hopefully she can get some answers, but unfortunately it's not a new problem.

So, as I was putting groceries away, I took inventory of the dreaded pantry. Always good for some food porn here at the House of Schizophrenic Food: 2 pkgs Oreos, Two bags cheese curls, 2 bags crab chips, Tortilla chips, 3 bags regular potato chips, 2 packs Berger cookies (1/2” thick chocolate icing), Bag of Goldfish, Wheat thins, Triscuits (2 kinds), Fig Newton fruit crisps, Fig Newton fruit thins, Nutri grain bars, 3 bags big marshmallows, one small, Microwave Popcorn, Doritos, Orange crackers with cheese and orange crackers with peanut butter, Chex mix (2 big bags), 2 bags mini donuts (chocolate and powdered sugar), Pound cake, Cinnamon swirl cake is still here (on the counter), Filp Sides crackers, Cheez-Its, Special K crackers, Peanut Butter wafers, Graham crackers, Hot chocolate, Sodas: Coke, Coke Zero, ginger ale, Fresca, Sprite, Cracker Crisps (Baked Naturals), Baked Lays, Rice cakes (various flavors), Ramen, Peanut butter (3 kinds), 2 bags Werther’s candy, Huge bag of peppermints, 4 bags party mints, 4 bags hard pretzels

Could someone throw me a life preserver ??

Cassie he unfriended me. Basically he was bitches that big business is ruining America. Everyone should support small business (which I'm not opposed to) the funny thing is that he works and Auto and his wife... Walmart. Everything he said I debunked. He's one of those that can't accept responsibility for anyone, his life is the way it is b/c of the oil companies, Walmart, insurance companies, you name it. I called him out on every point that he made. He couldn't refute anything I said so he unfriended me. I told if big business was the devil that they should quit their job and work for a small company or start his own business. He bitched that the health insurance they offer is what puts Americans in debt. I pointed out the most small businesses don't offer any insurance or benefits. He bitched about the economy and how hard it is to find a job. I told him that Big business employs more people, more truckers, more forklift operators, more railroad workers, etc than any Mom & Pops store. I told him that him at Autozone and the wife at Walmart that big business was writing their paycheck, putting food on his table for his family and that he was "biting the hand that feeds him". It went on and on. When he started bitching about the insurance companies, I explained that I had 3 epidurals, say time the hospital charged $1916 for "the use I their fascility" the doctor was another $1500, yet I was in and out in an hour. That nearly $3500/hr! After the $1916 hospital bill went through the insurance company I only paid $89.25. It kills me that everyone bitches a out the insurance companies and their rates but don't think that it's odd that the hospital charges ummmm what?? $13 for a Tylenol. Everyone is quick to sue and the hospitals and doctors have to make up the costs so how.

I have a feeling you were just wasting breath arguing, anyway. But it's irritating when people just close the door instead conceding that you may have a point.

About insurance...I get frustrated with it like everyone else. I have aggravations with it both as a consumer and as a provider, but in the long run, I know I have to have it and it saves me a lot of headaches and money over the long term. Insurance rates that I get paid for services keep dropping, and my premiums keep going up, but really, what's a better option? Not to have it? Doubtful. When my son was born, we got a couple of bills by mistake (he was preemie and in the NICU). I mailed them to insurance and they took care of it with no problems. I paid a total of $10 for that child, my first maternity visit co-pay. Granted, insurance isn't that comprehensive these days, but it's a priority for us; guess I'm starting a rant now.

Oh, and I just found another bag of potato chips, Fritos, and two pieces of store-bought coconut cake. At least if there is some sort of natural disaster, we won't starve to death here!
