Mern, you are so perceptive and so loving, so like Katherine in ways, from what I read of you, which is a high compliment, believe me. Katherine was one of the greatest, kindest, sweetest people I have ever known. The mother of a fairly famous actor, she contracted polio at age 28 (before the vaccine) and was wheel chair bound for most of her life and in later years confined to her bed. She never complained; in fact, she said she lived a very lucky life. People thought she had been to Greece, a place she spoke of often and loved with all her heart but she had only been there in her vivid imagination. She was a teacher and a poet and an inspiration to everyone, even people who had only met her once. She died recently. I will miss her.

Landmines or fat bombs? Yep, agreed summer is a TON of trouble calorie-wise.

Next day, same thing. Everyday for a week, my whole house smelled like the best smokey ham and bacon you could imagine. It's been totally killing me! I get so hungry!

Today, I just found out that someone down the road installed a small smoker in his back yard! Wow... this is going to make dieting soooooo hard! lol 24 hours a day, I smell all that hammy, bacony goodness... ugh.
Um a piece of bacon only has about 45 calories, so I say if you want some bacon, eat some. I love a sprinkle of bacon on my salad, sort of spreads the flavor out and hopefully tricks me into thinking I got more than a piece or two. My BIL owns a restaurant, their claim to fame is smoked meat, specifically bacon. I've been thinking that I should introduce him to a friend of mine who has an organic pig farm and should a deal be struck I would like bacon for life as a small token of their appreciation.

thanks everyone for the nice and warm welcome, here's my bit:
not bad for a first day.... 1725kcal and under 50g of fat, no biccies and no nuts. I'm proud of myself, I resisted pop tarts as an after dinner snack, and munched on carrot batons with a little bit of hummus instead

Mike, if the doctor says no fish oil, it doesn't count as a broken goal. It is beyond your control. First you need to get well, mate. You are mentioning epidural, funny, i only thought the use epi for women in labour...

Canary52 I love your post about Mern and Katherine, and totally agree with you (when it comes to Mern, since I didn't know Katherine).

Well I ending getting 2 spinal injections, which was news to me. One in L5 and one in S1. I had an IV drip but was conscience. I thought I would have been knocked out... nope. I didn't feel a thing b/c they had me high as a kite. Then he put some sore of pain patch on my back. Needless to say, after getting lunch I came home and CRASHED. I just woke back up and will probably fall back asleep... so guess what... I won't be able to drink a gallon of water today, since I'll only have a matter of a few hours between the time that I could eat/drink and actually awake. My calories will be down though.

Thanks. The epi is try try to relieve me of some "self inflicted" back pain. It is nice to have you back and great job on your first day. No nuts for you means more for me.

Mike, I agree with MunaAmin. If the doctor says it, you didn't break the goal. Also, if you are asleep due to all this, no broken goal. All good.
