Hi Nancy,

I finally have some good news! The wound has closed! Its not very pretty (she jokes she now has two belly buttons) but at least its shut and the worry of it getting infected can now be put aside. I am feeling much more positive now. My daughter starts radio and chemo tomorrow for five weeks, I feel we are starting the last phase of getting her well. I am actually starting to look forward to Christmas and the New Year.

Now that you have pinpointed your major trigger in your Crohn's will you be able to keep it under control and prevent another dreadful attack? I do hope so. Sounds as though you are getting back on form, and its good to hear you are able to go out and socialise now. My cough is almost gone now, so I am able to go for a dog walk without having to stop for a breather every 100 yards! So hopefully I can get motivated to get back on track with the weight loss.

Take care,
Love Nitaxxx

Well Nita, I am tickled pink for your family and so happy your daughter is on the homestretch!

I am getting lots of cardio everyday, either 40 or 60 minutes and feeling like a champ. My bowel continues to settle altho I have stalled out on cutting my meds as yet, time will take care of it. Altho extreme stress and hormones caused my relapse with Crohn's all sorts of things can cause it so it can happen at any time. I look at my history tho and for me, death of a close family member and getting sick go hand in hand...and those hormones, can never underestimate the power of hormones. so, there is no such thing as being "relapse proof".

I am so happy to hear your good news...keep it up!

Light and blessings,

Nancy

hello Nita! I was really hoping you might have checked in by now..this is a tough time, I understand, your family is in my prayers. I have another "blip" on my tongue which is being treated over the weekend with a steroid concoction made up by the chemist. I was feeling very poorly with it last week but I am Much better now.

Would you like to hear some Good news? In the last 5 weeks I have lost 8 lbs...WooHoo!! I am eating super well, which helps, but I am doing Oxycise and it is just helping me melt away, a bit at a time. This program also comes in a cd so if I can't have the tv I can lay on my bed and do it.

How is your precious daughter managing with the chemotherapy and rads? helluva thing to endure at Christmastime, I wish I were closer to have tea with you and make you soup and bring you Christmas baking.

I will keep checking in. Nita, hang in there. I am praying for you and your family, it will be ok.

Love,

Nancy

Hi Nita,

You must be super busy and very preoccupied with your family, such a busy month! I just had my colonoscopy 2 days ago so now we can relax and prepare for the 25th. My 2 kids are coming and perhaps some friends, not sure on them. My scope was good, no polyps (pre cancerous lesions), lots of scar tissue from my Crohn's disease and they look biopsies all over the colon, results in six weeks.

Today I have to get my new credit card which they sent me in September and I haven't called in as yet...you aren't the only one who got behind in things Nita! We didn't spend a lot of money on Christmas this year, we cut way back a few years ago and even more so this year. I am even putting baking in stockings..my family loves to snack!lol

Just a note to show you I am thinking of you and your family, Nita.

Light and blessings,

Nancy

Merry Christmas Nita!! it is noon on Christmas Eve and here I am settled in my hair with a hot water bottle and pain killers...bad back flaring from hours of gift wrapping, it will calm down.

I just want to wish you and your family a very Happy Christmas and a Bright New Year!!

Love,

Nancy

Hi Nancy,

Sorry I haven't been in touch lately, things have been pretty hectic! Not only was I taking my daughter for her treatments daily, but my husband was given Redundancy Notice (not sure what you call it over there, but he is on notice that his job will finish). We will not know exactly what will happen until 5th January 2012. Pretty mean of his employers at Christmas and the last straw as far as 2011 has been for us.

My daughter is very tired and puffy after completing her treatment and we are waiting for an appointment to see her consultant to arrange a scan over the next few weeks. But over all she isnt in too bad shape. She didnt lose her hair which has helped her moral no end.

Sorry to hear you have been having more health problems. I'm amazed you have managed to diet at such a time. You are obviously a very determined and focused person. Unfortunately I am easily distracted and do not cope very well with stress. Everybody who knows me thinks I am a very strong person, but it is just a front. They tend to lean on me and the way I cope is to eat. I realised this a few months ago, so I am going to have to work hard to find another way of coping. Not easy I know, but if I am going to lose weight and get healthy I am going to have to find an alternative way of relieveing stress. Any suggestions that don't cost money greatfully received!

Take care, and I hope your health improves.
Love Nita xxx

No need to be concerned. There's a redirect in the original forum. So this thread can be found in (2) places for the next month.

Hi Nancy,

Looks like we have been moved to "Women's only Corner"!!!

How are you doing? I was going along ok and then went and managed to gain a pound back this week, so am feeling a bit miffed with myself. I must admit that I have been letting the stress get to me though, so that is probably the cause.

I have gone out and bought myself a guitar! I have been getting stiff fingers so, after the initial soreness from starting the guitar, it should help to keep my fingers supple, and it will give me something else to concentrate on rather than the c**p (sorry) that is going on in my life at the moment. Two teenage children, older daughter's problems and a husband who is not happy in his job (he didnt get made redundant but is still miserable!) its no wonder I have got high blood pressure!

I am going to go and make myself a tuna salad for dinner, might have a small jacket potato with it to stop the munchies later, and try and resist the temptation to have a VERY LARGE glass of wine!

Take care
Love Nita xx

Hi Nita..so grateful to have found you!!

I am happy to hear your husband still has his job but saddened to hear he isn't happy in it. Just having teenagers is enough to make one eat let alone everything else you are dealing with. I totally understand, Nita.

Well done on buying yourself a guitar!! My husband is studying guitar at Univeristy level so I hear a lot of playing..and a lot of struggling. He is at it 2-3 hrs per day so I am grateful he has a room just for music.

I may be trying a pottery class on for size this winter, have you ever done that? It means cutting my nails right down and taking off my rings for an afternoon of good messy stuff..I think I am up for that! I got a letter in the mail today saying my specialist wants to see me in his office to discuss my colonoscopy results, not generally good news. My husband says it likely means I will have to have another colonoscopy sooner rather than later...in my world of tongue cancer this doesn't sound traumatic at all. I could deal with that easily.

We have had very mild weather all season but suddenly it is very cold and we apparently are due heavy snow falls next week. As long as there is no wind we all agree cold with dazzling bright sunshine is the way to go for the next 3 months. It is a very dry cold as opposed to the English damp cold that gets in your bones..you well know what I mean don't you Nita?!

I need to make some fresh hot tea so will be logging off now. I hope your daughter is on the mend from all her treatments, this is so hard on you as a Mum and I appreciate that. It is a very good thing you focussing on your music..don't worry about a bit of weight gain, this too shall pass. You just need to take care of your soul right now, it is a delicate time in your family.

Much love,
Nancy xo
