Default Hi ArchyJill!

Thank you for posting. I was about ready to bow out quietly...it's no fun talking to yourself, kwim? How is it going for you? I usually allow myself a little extra on the weekends since I do a longer run on Saturday and am just generally more active. I'm a school teacher...which uses a lot of mental energy...but I don't kid myself that I burn a lot at work. Friday was my MIL's birtday and I had a piece of cake. Yummy! I am trying to allow myself to enjoy a special treat once in a while. Life is too short not to. I got on the scale this morning and I am starting to see progress. My weekly weigh-ins will be on Wednesday. Enjoy the rest of your weekend, Archy and all...

Well I'm going to lose 20 pounds, but I'm gonna say that's close enough

I've been up and down with my weight literally all my life. I've always been bigger than I'm comfortable with. The first time when I discovered that I could change this was the summer before my 7th grade year. I ate right and started working out and I lost 15 pounds over the summer (I was 117 lbs when I was done). As that year started I gained the weight back and was always struggling to get back on track since then. I'm 23 now and still having issues with losing the weight, and not only keeping it off, but reaching my goal. I always come so close (within a couple of pounds) but then I get lazy and start to gain it back before I truley meet my weight goal. But this time I'm going to do it

I'm 155 now and hoping to lose 20 pounds so I can be 135...and acctually feel happy with myself for once in my life. My biggest inspiration is just knowing that I can get the weight off- because I've done it before.

Good luck to everyone else--you can do it!!

Default New here

Hi! New to the forum. I am a mother of 3 kids (11, 8, and 20 months) and went up a jean size with the each of the first two. Was determined not to do the same with the third and kept my pregnancy weight controlled. I went easily back to pre-pregnancy weight within about 6 months of ds being born - but that weight was not something I was ever comfortable with.

Last March, I started just to count my calories and figured out how many I naturally burn in a day - not much. I used fitday to keep my cals between 1100-1300/day and did Jillian Michael's 30 day shred video religiously. I lost about 18 lbs in about 8 months and have stayed steady since November. I would like to lose another 7-10 lbs.

I am part of a Live Healthy America team that is a 100 day challenge for weight loss and activity minutes. It started just over a week ago and ends April 23rd. So my goal is to lose that weight by April 23rd. I have been very good about excercise minutes so far - 30+ a day (workout classes and we have an elliptical machine at home). I just started to track calories again using fitday. Worked once, why not again?!

Sorry this was kind of a "life story" post. I'm with all the people to lose 5 lbs by end of February! Like someone else said, charts and numbers keep me motivated along with being accountable to a team.

I'd like to lose 10 pounds as well! I'm 5'2" and was 135 at my 'heaviest', last fall. I worked off 20 pounds in about 5 months of calorie counting and and exercising, but like a lot of you got lazy and never finished the last 5 pounds. I gained about 8 back over the past year and decided I'm too young (22 in two weeks!) to be so inactive. I declared to myself to have an active year so I started running and have been going every other day for over three weeks now. I signed up for a 5k for June and have told everyone I know about it so I won't back out!
Last year when I lost the 20 I was working out with a friend but she has moved so I'm on my own. It's hard to go by myself but I do it because I don't want to let my family and friends, and most importantly, myself down. So far I have lost about 4 pounds and have 10 to go. I hope to be at my goal weight by the beginning of March!
I'm getting married in October so I want to be saucy! haha

Default 15 lbs by Summer Hopefully

Hey! I'm 20 and I'm 5'9 and 160lbs and my BMI says I should be around 145 so I'm hoping to lose 15 lbs by July. I'm trying to look at it as a lifestyle change instead of a diet so that I can really adopt a new way of looking at food because I don't want it to be a continual battle; I want to develop better habits and keep them all my life! I seem to have the problem of eating too much rather than what it is I'm eating. I love vegetables and fruit (not because it is healthy, but because I actually think it tastes good), but when I eat, my portion control is completely absent. Of course I am guilty of eating desserts too, which doesn't help! The thing that really made me look more seriously at my health is when someone told me I had the notorious "thunder thighs" and I mean I can take jokes, but I just couldn't get over that comment. So, I hope that I can be part of the forum and use it as a motivational tool. I hope we can all pull this off!

Default Save me!!!

Have decided to hire a personal trainer and for some reason I've taken that as permission to go wild until training starts. If I don't stop eating donuts and nuts non-stop I'll be kicked out of the 5-15 pound club (kicked out in the wrong direction that is!). I'd blame it on being out of town but I know I am a grown-up and that is NO excuse!

Default Welcome!

Welcome kcaliff, mia, and weinfur3! ArchyJill...I wrote you a long responce and it timed out on me But, anyway...Yay about the trainer! Does anyone know how you can make this site not time out after a few minutes.
Please advise. Very annoying. Have a great day everyone! This may be a challenging one for me as I'm at an in-service all day today and out of my routine, but tomorrow is weigh-in day so I'm going to focus on that.

Good morning, ladies! Haven't checked back to this thread in a while. Glad to see everyone's hanging in there! When I started on the 1st of the year, my goal was to take off 15 lbs. 10 lbs. are now gone- 5 to go. For some reason, it hasn't been hard to stick to my diet this time. Maybe I was just sick of fitting room mirrors. Nothing like trying on jeans surronded by mirrors, now is there? The weight is coming off slower now, as I expected it would as I get closer to my goal. Any new ideas for evening meals? Let me hear from you. I need inspiration and fresh ideas to push to the goal line!
