Built - So then you know exactly what I'm feeling right now...the really sad part is I know how to be mindful and I know what I have to do but it takes just that one cookie, bagel, etc. and it's ALL OVER. I have no self control. It's nothing for me to consume an entire bag of candy on any given day. That topped with menopause just wrecks havoc on me. It's time to end this battle... I generally as a rule "eat clean" but everytime I let my guard down and go for the junk, I bounce back up in weight and I end up being miserable. I think I'm gonna love this forum.

This looks the perfect place for me. I'd lost 83 lbs 1 & 1/2 years ago. I did really well keeping if off for a year, but salt my evil nemeses found me & I started allowing a few processed foods in here & there. Well before I knew it I was up 11 lbs
So I'm buckling down & dealing with it. I also stopped journaling my food. I know where I got off track & am learning. Hope to get to know all of you guys.Let's keep positive we can do it

83 lbs.! That's amazing! What a big difference that type of weight loss must have made in your life! I'm nearly at my goal, but I hope to continue with this thread so that my new found buddies here keep me honest and, more importantly, that I stay aware of what I had been doing wrong. Again, welcome aboard! Anyone else?

Yeah 83 lbs made a huge difference. One was an unexpected side effect I also lost another 200 lbs in the way of a over controlling jerk of a now ex-husband...lol. He made everything about my weight & even after I lost it & looked & felt fablous he still treated me well I'll say crappy though I could use other more colourful words. But yes oh me 83 lbs less is a huge burden off of me pun intended...lol. Accountability is key that's where I also got off track I was part of another message borad which I will go back on & was accountable there & that was a huge part of my success. I found fitday just by looking for an online journal & was so impressed with the fact that it's free, SO MANY COOL TOOLS that I just started checking out the forums. I will have to visit my old friends too.

Hello - I was in the 5 - 15 lb range for a long time and wasn't motivated because I got the "you look fine" and I was really active. But, 2009 gave me a disk problem (and a couch problem) and a dog and family member that died and now I have 22 lbs to lose and feel gross and depressed. I turn 40 in September and want to weigh 140 - the weight that fits me best. Food has become a drug to me so I need to be strong and I need to ease back into excercise and a strong back. Thanks for listening.

I hear ya about food becoming a drug. I can totally relate. For me I have used it as comfort when I'm stressed, bored, what have you. NOT GOOD!!

Hi Built...awesome job on your loss this past week! Just goes to show that if you get off track, you can still get right back on.
Question for the personal trainer (do you mind?) What is the best way to measure body fat? Are the scales you can buy for home accurate? I am sure it's better to have a professional do it, but I don't have access to one. Something's weird...I have been to my current weight before but usually as a result of extreme stress that kills my appetite. I feel that I got here the healthy way this time and have much better muscle tone, but my waist is 1" bigger now than it is when I weigh this much "stressed out." Of course, it's smaller than when I started, so that much I'm thankful for! Welcome to bassetts and stacey! ![]() CassieJ |

CassieJ, thank you for the welcome. I like what you said about if you get off track we can just right back on. that is SOOOO true!! Not sure why your waist is an 1" bigger being at your current weight & being healthy that's a strange one...lol. Could it be extra sodium your retaining? Just a thought.

basset- I can tell you from experience that disk problems are the worst!
(3 bulged disks, car accident several years ago) At first, I was mad and frustrated and then I got depressed and ate. Now, I've come to realize that, with a doctors help, the more I move and am active the better I feel! Believe me, I can't do what I used to but I've found new things that I try just a little at a time. Some work out fine, some hurt and I try something else. My chiropractor pushed me to do more than I thought I could have and now, when I'm inactive, I stiffen up. So, baby steps. A little at a time and the couch will look less appealing, I promise.
