5-15 Pounders Weekly Check-In for 6/15/2010

Greetings and Salutations!! How was everyone's week?

MollySue2 06-14-2010 07:41 PM

Good morning, everyone!

My week went okay. I'm still counting calories, but am not as strict with my calorie restriction and it shows... Not trying to make excuses, but I am currently applying for a new job and have an interview coming up next week, so I guess my focus shifted away from weight loss a bit. Right now I'm in a kind of "stuck mode" - I'm trying to make up for the calories I've eaten and that's about it. So...I have neither gained nor lost. Am still at 125.6 lbs.

Hope you all have a great week coming up!

Do you ever feel like your body refuses to give up the weight because it (not you) is happy with the weight it is at?? I can't get this moving. I am at 137 again after having been down to 133 about 6 weeks ago. As I look back, it was so hard to get to that 133. I had an event coming up so the motivation was there, but I was at the gym everyday, giving it all I had ,and eating nothing that really made me happy. I am still working out most days and still working hard, but I have added some foods back and things are not working for me. Is it worth it, if you have to work that hard to get a few pound off only to have them come back sooo quickly. Sorry for the long post. I'm just discouraged today.

Whew! What a crazy day! Just keepin' on this week; still in the process of learning how to balance everything out. Overall things are good; some little slips, but it occurred to me that slip-correct, slip-correct is a pretty natural way of doing things, as opposed to always having everything planned out perfectly.

Interesting point, Mambo...I think I remember an article about that very topic you brought up. It was about asking yourself if you really did need to lose those last few pounds and about the trade off between having them gone and the cost of what you have to give up. Basically it said that as long as you are at a healthy weight, everything else is negotiable and up to you. I know Pam has posted some intelligent logic in other threads about taking a maintenance break after she has lost a certain set amount, for a few weeks, then restarting. It makes sense!

MollySue, same weight is not a gain, so good on you! Good luck with those interviews!

Glad to see you all are still being accountable because I NEED IT:)

Cassie, glad to see you're still plugging away with maintenance! There's some analogy I read somewhere comparing being healthy to rocket flight. The rocket is constantly correcting it's flight path on it's way to its destination. So are we!

Mambo, There is a theory that we all have a "set point" as far as body weight goes. And coaxing that set point downwards most definitely takes a lot of patience and perseverance. That said, if my eating plan is driving me nuts (and sometimes it does), then it's time to add in some foods that I enjoy in small quantities. If I have to boost my activity to make up for it, then so be it. None of us do this perfectly.

What a great lead-in for telling you all that I caved this evening and ate a piece of something that is not on plan:o I know why---got lonely this evening, hubby's been out of town for days, daughters are out, and I was stressing about some big bills coming due. The unplanned treat did not change any of these circumstances. But I know I'll just hop right back on plan tomorrow.

As for my stats, they are about the same: 118#, down 1/2 inch in thighs, up 1/4 inch in abs. I had mentioned that instead of aiming for a goal weight, I would aim for 17-18% body fat. Took my measurements on the Tanita scale at gym and it said I was at 15%. Not sure how accurate that is. So...I'm kind of not sure what outcome goal to shoot for. For now, I'll just focus on the daily action goals, continue logging and hopefully some new physical accomplishments.

Hope everyone has a good week ahead of them and good luck on your job search MollySue!

Cassie, glad to see how well you are doing at maintaining. It's also great to read about how you deal with slip-ups and how it evens out over a few days.

Mambo, I certainly have a body that sometimes does the same thing. I'd say that you should try and do whatever feels right. I know that is vague and annoying but basically if you aren't happy then you can probably work to tweak parts of your diet/exercise regime and work towards losing a few more pounds. If you are somewhat content, then just try to maintain and reassess in a few weeks.

Molly, staying the same is definitely a win in my book, especially if you weren't particularly careful. Good luck on the interview, I'm sure you will rock it! :)

I haven't weighed in yet this week. Today I was great until I got home after my body sculpting class where i proceeded to eat a bunch of dried cranberries and then pour chocolate syrup down my throat. Lettuce for din din since I'm already over 1500 for today!!!:(

You didn't tell us what you ate!! Where is the food porn? I need the food porn! :D:D:D JK...

Beth, hope you find some other good ways to treat yourself, and congrats on your wonderful accomplishments!

Oh, hi, Julia, you posted while I was typing. What a great example of compensating, LOL!

blackrhino2 06-15-2010 12:25 PM

Yes, Beth please give us food porn! I hope it was more exciting then my dried cranberries and choco syrup!

Congrats on your awesome stats and for losing 1/2 inch on your thighs! That is what I want!!! I really need to get a tape measure so that I can figure out what my thighs are now. You've been at or below your goal weight for two weeks now. I feel like you've been maintaining for a while, but I'll just say it anyway:congrats for staying at goal for 2 weeks!

Thanks ladies. Okay, okay...it was pudding pound cake. Was saving it in the freezer for my husband but hopefully he'll forget about it:D

so, the scale this morning said 153.5 -- down from 155.5 four days ago. Things are kind of wacky, though--I've got a cold, which means I'm sleeping more and eating less than I normally would (being sick kills my appetite). I have to try to get my calorie count for the day into at least the 1200 range--the last thing I need to do is go into 'starvation mode' and wind up *gaining* weight out of eating less!
