It basically is. However do not pay much attention to BMI unless you are applying for life insurance. For my BMI to be "healthy" I would need to literally have 0% body fat.

Notice that nowhere in the equation is there any consideration for muscle mass. It was developed back in the late 1800's. I suppose it's fine for somehow who lives a sedentary life, but not for someone who has any above average amount of muscle mass.
