Did the Fallen Heroes of Georgia 5K this past Saturday on Lake Lanier and did 30:21.5 so I averaged 9:47/Mile. First time I did a 5K and averaged under a 10/M mile in about 15 years. Have another 5K planned for mid April and hope to keep it up.
Hope everyone is doing well.

Ed, congrats on the 5K--that's awesome! I may try one myself a little later in the year (it's snowing hard right now). I suspect I'll be walking, though--I don't want to beat my knees up any more.

Regards,
Michael

dagamer1,
You have it down!!!. Your doing great and I know you will reach your goal. I was in Helen last week and visit several times a year, I agree, you have to love the outdoors in north Georgia, One of the great places in the world to live. (Good cold beer+fun= Oktoberfest)
10 mile walk is great and hope you can keep it up, keeps us young! Keep me posted on your progress.
Hope to know if I was picked for the 10K Peachtree by Tuesday (lotto for 60,000 runners). If I don't get picked, will find another 10K close by.
Keep at it dagamer1, we are pulling for your success.

Congrats Ed and others on your progress. I guess you did beat me to 240 after all! Have restarted for a 2nd time last week...I was back up to 315 (thats me putting on 53 lbs since July 2010). Thought it was best to get back to it. Have a vacation in July of this year that I want to be below 280 - actually I want to be 270, but I'd be ok with anything inbetween. 15 weeks and 35 pounds to get rid of. 1st week and have lost 9 lbs to date so down to 306. Lets see what this week brings...

Nice to hear from you Richard. We all fall off the horse sometimes, just have to dust off and hop on again. I know you can reach your vacation goal and pulling for you.
---------------------------------------------
I received my notice that I got picked (Lotto) for the Atlanta Peachtree Road Race this week. I'm sure I can do the 6.2 miles but July 4th heat + 60,000 fellow runners may make it a good challenge. This is a "Bucket List" thing I want to do in my 50th year. I do not plan on ever running a marathon or half marathon but hope to keep up some jogging. Hope this goal will keep me motivated to keep up the work outs and a couple jogs a week.
Hope everyone is doing well.

Two weeks until my first 10K now. Over the past week, I have done a 3 good runs, I think 2 of them exceeded the 10 K mark. My goal for now to make it under the 1:05 mark but folks who have done this race before says the first mile is so crowed, it is hard to get your pace.
I have done 4-5 5Ks over the past couple months and finishing all just over the 30 min mark (all but one averaged under 10 min mile).
Still getting 5-6 work outs in a week but still off on my diet. I have been hovering just over the 240 mark. Need to get my head right on my diet again.
Hope everyone is doing well. Happy Father's day all Dads.

Ed, that's amazing! I'm done-in after a two mile jog. I did a 4 mile walk in a bit over an hour last weekend and that was pretty much it for me. I have had to stop jogging as my knee is acting up but seems OK if I stick to walking.

My hat it off to you running for 10K. Well done!

Regards,
Michael

Thanks, Ed. I still plan to take off another 50 to 60 or so and see how that feels. The trouble is, I can lose weight fairly easily and painlessly, while getting (and keeping) the motivation to work out for an hour a day is going to be much tougher! But, I know one of the keys to being able to maintain a healthy weight is to bump up the muscle mass and it's gotta be done.

Regards,
Michael
