Exclamation Good Housekeeping magazine seeks FitDay success stories

Hi FitDay members!

Good Housekeeping magazine is doing a feature on people who have had great success using top online fitness sites. So of course they contacted us!

Their ideal candidate is a woman between 25 and 50 years of age, who has used FitDay to lose 30 pounds or more. They’d like to do a short interview, post a few before/after photos, and include any compelling story aspects from the subject: reason for the weight loss, personal stats, etc. If you’re married and/or have children, it fits their demographic even better – but it’s not a requirement Above all, they're looking for interesting/inspirational stories, so that trumps everything.

One important note is that if you’ve already been featured in another magazine, they cannot use your story at this time.

If you are interested in being considered, just leave word here in a thread reply and we’ll email you the information they’re looking for.

Thanks everyone – and have an amazing day!

Hi Paul.

I am interested and have been a member of your site for many years using your online tools. I have a success story that I could share.

Too bad. I won't bother then.

Them stating their sexist "ideal" trumps everything for me, so they can go pound sand. They need people like me, we don't need them.

It has to do with who their readers are, not their personal feelings

Right now my legs are pretty muscular from all the mountain biking. I guess the ladies of Good Housekeeping are only interested in looking at other women who have gotten themselves into shape??

I think they would prefer to use a woman because it's easier for the female readers to see themselves in that woman and believe it could be them than if it was a man.

Thanks to magazines pushing size zeros on us all, most women and girls are now obsessed with losing weight these days whether they need to or not whereas considerably fewer men are as concerned about their appearance or health so it makes sense that they believe this story would appeal more to women readers.

I agree it's a bit sexist - for a start, why is a housekeeping magazine only aimed at women? - but try not to take it too personally. They just want to ensure that their story appeals to who they think will be reading their magazine.

It does say their ideal candidate is a woman (blah, blah, blah). Not that they wouldn't consider other submissions. If you are less than their age requirement you could still submit and they may use you so I don't see why a man couldn't submit. Don't be offended.
