70lbs lost, almost there...

I am so happy today when I look at the scale and finally am at a weight of 159. My goal weight is 150 so I am almost there. I just recently started wearing clothes that actually fit and are not falling off of me. I started out Jan 16th at 231 and I am 5ft3in. It took me about a 5 weeks to start losing weight and started to get frustrated but kept on hoping. I mainly look at keeping my calories at about 1200-1500 and try to keep my fat at 25%. I work out everyday with a 1.75 mile walk in morning followed by a 40min cardio video 4 times a wk, 30min toning video 3times wk and in the afternoon 2 mile walk (I use the biggest loser videos). I have an office sit down job so I get no exercise at work. I was losing consistently 2lbs a week until recently. I hit a plateau but seem to be back losing. To everyone out there who is struggling keep up with the hard work. You will eventually reach your goal and don't get discouraged if it takes you longer than others. People look at me now and say I can't believe how much weight you have lost, you don't need to lose more. Well another 10lbs and then a new struggle will begin.

Good Job! Thanks for posting!
Hopefully, you're buying some new clothes to celebrate your success.

I have some photos but never thought to take progressive pics. I will try and post a couple one before and one now. I wish I had taken progress photos.

At the first photo, I am the one on the far right of the picture two years ago.

At the second photo, it was taken at Halloween this year.

Hopefully I did this right and you can get the attachments.

You've done a fantastic job!! Congrats on all your hard work; it really paid off :D

almeeker 11-14-2010 01:19 PM

Very nice and thanks so much for posting the pics, that takes both nerve and computer savvy, both of which are impressive. Like you, I didn't take any "before" shots and don't have any progress photos to speak of either. My DD was saying that I need a "now" picture and volunteered to take one, but I haven't had her do it yet. One of these days I'm going to get my hair brushed and a clean shirt on and just do it.

well done path, fantastic work! :D

Congrats on you accomplishment!! Do you mind sharing which biggest loser videos you use? I currently use Leslie Sansone 4 mile workout alternated with 30 Day Shred. On the days I do the 30 day shred, I also walk 30 minutes on the treadmill since the workout is only 20 minutes. I am getting a little bored with the same thing every week so I would like to purchase some new ones.

I started using the "Cardio Max" and "Last Chance" workouts and alternated each day. The cardio max has 3 levels so you start at level 1, then 2, and last 3. Each level you add ten minutes. The last chance had two different sets of exercises, toning upper/lower and cardio. There was only one level for the last chance. I realized a couple months ago I needed to focus on toning so I ditched the last chance and opted for the "Power Sculpt" video. This video also has 3 levels so you can start out small and work your way up. I am on level 3 for the cardio but only level 2 for the toning. Next month I will start the level 3 toning. I love these videos and would recommend them to anyone.

You have to get the pics done. I was in denial for a long time until I finally dyed my hair and posted a pic on facebook. I got a ton of comments on how I looked, not my red hair but my weight loss. Now I look at the before and after pics and I can be very proud of the work I have done. Congratulations and keep giving yourself the confidence you deserve.

Per your advice, I went last night and bought Cardio Max and Power Sculpt. I started this morning with Cardio Max level one, or actually I used to week 1-2 so I am assuming its level one. Its definately going to take me some time to move to the next level.;) I will start the Power Sculpt tomorrow. Thanks for the suggestion!!

Good luck, just go at your own pace. I could not get my feet off the ground to jump when I first started. I just did what I could and said each day will be different. Yeah the week 1-2 is the level 1, week 3-4 level 2, and so on. I did not level up that quick. I did change levels every couple of months but see how you do first. Don't move up if you don't feel you are ready. They really can be challenging but are not boring at all. I am glad I could help.

That is fantastic PATH75!! I just joined FitDay and need some inspiration.
I am 5' 1/2 " and at 56 years old have to get this weight off. I weigh 159.2 (160 lbs) and am at 40% fat. That's a lot of fat!! I am taking a small goal of 10% of my weight ... that is 16 lbs. But most of all I want to get toned and drop my body fat.
I am doing a Low Carb but keeping my calories at about 1400 and carbs near to 20-30 grams. (my sugar runs high and am pre-diabetic). I do exercise. I am using the Body For Life program. So Mondays Upper Body Work Out Tuesdays: Cardio Wednesday: Lower Body Work Out Thursday: Cardio etc. Some days I have great energy and some days I am draggin.
Any suggestions would be helpful.

Do you log your activity on FitDay? If so how do you log Cardio Max and Power Sculpt?

I do log them. I had to research online and find the closest category. I do the Cardio Max under calisthenics and the Power Scupt under weight lifting vigorous effort.

The only advice I can give is to keep working at it. It took me six weeks to start losing weight. I look at my weight loss as a work in progress and a life style change. You will eventually find something that you can do the rest of your life. One thing that was different was that I did more cardio in the beginning to get my metabolism moving so you may want to do more cardio then work in the toning after a few weeks. I started out walking, it is an easy exercise and most people can do it. I walked twice a day started with a half mile, to a mile and I worked up to two miles twice a day. Good luck and you can do anything you set your mind to do!

I'm proud of u. I am 5'3 & 180 lbs. I'm sick & tired of being sick & tired. I want to be healthy & get my energy back. Yes I would like to look better too. I am having a hard time getting motivated. I used to be a gym person until I was having serious joint issues they couldn't figure out so I left the gym. I don't lose weight mainly from working out but from eating property & exercise. I have equippment at home, but I'm not good at home. I can't afford the gym anymore so I'll have to make it work. I did my goal weight and it says that I must eat 1,738 cal max. to lose 1.35 lbs/wk to get to my goal weight loss of 50 lbs by Sept. That's 5 lbs a month which should be attainable. Can you give me any meal ideas that worked for you. I don't eat pork FYI. Thanks and keep up the great work!
