Lightbulb The first step is to admit...

... that you need a little help.

I have finally admitted that I need some help in losing the pounds and keeping them off. This is the first time in my life where I've been watching my calories.

I'm very pleased to have stumbled upon this site today. This is powerful software with a great forum. I've been keeping track of my caloric intake and exercise manually for the last 3 weeks so this site is a pleasure. I've got 18 pounds to lose by Christmas so I think I've set a realistic goal.

I've lost weight before, but I've always put it back on, and this is the most I've ever weighed.

Hello to everyone here and it's a pleasure to be a newbie in this community.

Welcome VitoVino,
18 pounds by December is very do-able. Many of us have learn tons about ourselves by logging food - I bet you'll have some insights too .

I look forward to reading about your progress!

Welcome to FitDy VitoVini!

18 pounds by Christmas is very reasonable!

Is that your long term goal?

Well, that's my short term goal, to get to 160. I then want to maintain that weight which would be my long term goal. I've done this numerous times before, going from 165 and 170 back down to 160, but this time I've hit 178 and enough is enough.

I want to keep the weight off this time, and with all the knowledge and help from FitDay I should.

Once I hit 160, I may decide on 155 but I'm pretty sure that's as light as I should be. That would be the upper level of my BMI in a healthy weight, but I've still got an athletic build underneath the extra pounds.
