Hi, I'm back on the wagon after some weeks of bad eating habits and no exercise.. I currently weigh 232.4 lbs, and my goal weight is between 125 and 135 lbs... my mini goal is to lose 2 inches from my bust, waist, and thighs, so I wear a sz 16 top and sz 14 jeans...as you can see, I'm a fashionista tired of plus sizes... I look forwartd to any suppport from other dieters on this forum... I certainly need it! Behlor

Default I'm Like SkinnyBonz...

The weight GAIN chart that SkinnyBonz posted is about what I've also done to myself. At an all-time high of 250# right now, I went to my doctor and he said, "Lost 100# or die by age 60." (I'm 58...and only 5'2").

I have a multitude of health issues. Anyway, the doctor gave me his version of yet another diet and for some reason, it "took" this time! I started August 4th and it's only the 6th (2012), but I've already lost 5.5# and today I actually walked 5 MILES!!! With numbers like that, I'm pretty motivated!

No matter what diet I went on before, I was off of it by Day #2. I finally figured out my issue: LAZINESS! I'm too lazy to go to the store if I'm missing a food that's on the list for that day!! OMG! Also, I hate cooking, but I'm biting the bullet on that this time. I ensured I had 21 days free of events (birthdays, etc.) so that I can at least stay on track for 3 weeks. WISH ME LUCK & GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE ELSE!

wombat319,, its great that you are here!, I too have had a similar story play out in my life. you must fight this disease. I have found many good things to eat and not be deprived, I will share with you my typical day
Breakfast. 24oz decaf,
Kashi go lean crunchy ( bar )
fresh fruit, or a cup of cut fruit
lunch Wawa chicken Mango salad
Kens fat free honey dejon dressing
fresh fruit
3:00pm snack granny smith apple or yogurt with fruit

dinner steamed or grilled Mahi - Mahi about the size of the palm of your hand
Brown rice, or celofane noodles
steamed or grilled veggies

desert yoplait low fat strawberry yogurt with less than a handfull of Kashi crumbles ( cereal) and frozen berry mix, sold in bags

this works out to be 1200- 1500 calories,, and the desert is something I look forward to,, enjoy and remember to Log your food,, and fight !

Wawa is a local convienance store that has good food and fresh fruit,, read labels !!!

Thought I would report back in. Yesterday evening was my weigh-in day. I lost 1 pound. It doesn't surprise me as I did not go to the gym Wednesday through Sunday. In any case, new week, a new opportunity.

Wombat, that's really encouraging that you're all ready seeing results like that. That was a really smart idea to make sure that you can start without any events happening for the first 3 weeks. I've heard before that it takes 3 weeks to form a good habit. Of course we all know it only takes one day to ruin a good habit.

In any case, I do have a question. I'm not sure what to make of the calorie lifestyle column. Is that an amount of calories I am expected to burn throughout the day or is that an amount that I should be aiming to burn?

andieligon,

One thing i did, was try to take foods that i enjoy and make them healthier by use of different ingredients, For example instead of burger with cheese and bacon and french fries, switch to burger, without cheese or bacon and with side of broccoli....it allowed me to still have some of what i enjoyed without totally giving everything up. No matter how much it sucks, give logging your food at least a month, and log everything, no matter how bad it might suck to, and if you follow the rule of eating less than your body burns you will lose weight. I am down 212lbs in 15 months as proof.

Thanks Clay. 212 pounds in 15 months? That's incredible progress.

Logging in everything hasn't really been an issue as yet. I did miss a day or two last week because I didn't get onto the computer. I am becoming more aware of what I am eating needs to be fuel for my body, so I need to make sure that the food I'm eating is the right type for me. Last night my family had fried catfish and okra. Pretty tough but I took some catfish and cooked it up really quick and made it into a taco. Not my ideal way of eating catfish for sure, but it worked out and I enjoyed it. And then I went to the gym and got my workout on after dinner.

I think last week was just a bit of a startup hiccup. I was starting something brand new and wasn't in the habit of sticking to my plan just yet. But it's like I said, new week, new opportunities.

I am too on a journey to be a healthier me. I'm no longer overweight, but I'm trying to tone up and keep off the weight. (The heaviest I've been in my life was 160lb when I was in elementary/junior high!) I know how hard it gets sometimes when you just feel like you'd rather just skip your workout or go crazy on your diet, but what matters is how strong your will is to get back on track.

Clay, looking good! I'm back to work and back on track today.

Was getting back into the swing, then lost my best friend in a motorcycle accident a couple of weeks ago (we were meeting up to go riding) and things haven't been good.

I have logged everything (scary) but don't plan on stepping on the scale for at least a couple of "good" weeks.

Regards,
Michael
