Cassie, if you like Mr. Brightside by the Killers (I LOVE that song) try this mix "Mr. Brightside (Jacques Lu Cont's Thin White Duke Mix)" It's on iTunes. It's an amazing mix of the song and is even better for running or cardio than the original.

Yauncin, GREAT idea for a thread!

I am looking forward to checking out some of these songs too. I need to mix it up so I don't get bored!

I forgot Fall Out Boy, Jimmy eat World , and Smash Mouth-Allstar, I'm a Believer. Muse is awesome-starlight, supermassive black hole. 30 seconds to Mars is good too, also have some Journey on there (don't stop believin' never gets old)

Let's keep this thread bumped up, there's some good stuff on here. The radio stations around me are crap, so I always need new music ideas.

I can't believe that nobody has any Buckwheat Zydeco listed. Now that is some serious working out music!!! Never mind that it's all in Cajun, if you can't run to that you can't run to nothin'.

I have a German song on my iPod. Long story how it got there and what it means for me personally, but I get some strange looks when people scroll through my music...

My musical tastes are definitely harder and darker than what's been posted for the most part.....

Here's a few bands that I'll usually have on my Ipod shuffle,No song titles, just the cd name.

Current playlist:
Bolt Thrower- Mercenary, Realm of Chaos, Who Dares Wins
Cannibal Corpse- Gallery of Suicide
Deftones- Adrenaline, Around the Fur, White Pony and Diamond Eyes
Fear Factory-Archetype, Digimortal, Obsolete, Transgression, Mechanize
Iron Maiden- Killers, Number of the Beast, PowerSlave
Machine Head- Burn My Eyes, Through the Ashes of Empires
Metallica- Kill’em All, Ride the Lightning, Garage Inc.
Ozzy- Blizzard of Oz, Diary of a Madman
Slayer- Reign in Blood, South of Heaven, World Painted Blood, Show no Mercy ,Hell Awaits, God Hates us all, Divine Intervention, Diabolus Musica, and Seasons in the Abyss

I've found that Fear Factory, Slayer and Deftones have some great tunes to run to, long hard steady tempos to run by.

I'm so happy you started this thread. I love finding out about new music. Lately I've been listening to a lot of cheesy techno and upbeat comedy songs when I work out, and since I don't see those genres represented I will list a smattering here.

Hot Chip - I Feel Better, One Life Stand, Ready for the Floor, and Over and Over
No More Kings - Someday and Sweep the Leg
Benassi Brothers - Blackbird
Jonathan Coulton - Betty and Me, Code Monkey, Curl, and Chiron Beta Prime
Daft Punk - Aerodynamic, Digital Love, One More Time, and Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger
The Eels - Mr's E's Beautiful Blues
Gnarls Barkley - Crazy and Storm Coming
Gorillaz - DARE and Clint Eastwood
hellogoodbye - Here (In Your Arms)
KT Tunstall - Suddenly I See
Material Issue - Valerie Loves Me
The Decemberists - O Valencia
White Town - I Could Never Be Your Woman

Whoa, thread resurrection!

I love finding out about new music! I'm completely with cjohnson -- my workout music is a mix of driving beats, songs that have motivational lyrics, and/or songs that make me a little bit angry for the adrenaline rush. I have a tendency towards slightly more pop-punk/guitar-driven/dance beats, but my current workout list is pretty eclectic. I also like some soundtrack music, be it instrumental or with lyrics.

My absolute favorite workout song is Jimmy Eat World --> The Middle. I feel like it's my workout anthem. I love the beat, I love the message, I will always listen to it no matter where it pops up during my workout.

Here are some other currents on my list (It's not all of them, there's like 200 on there...these are just some favorites. I put them in alphabetical order because I'm OCD like that! )

These are listed by Song Name -- > Artist:

Ain't No Rest for the Wicked --> Cage The Elephant
Battle Without Honor or Humanity --> Kill Bill Soundtrack
Body Movin' --> Beastie Boys
Born To Run --> Bruce Springsteen
Build Me Up a Buttercup --> Save Farris (this is a pop/punk remix with a great beat)
Bye, Bye, Bye --> Further Seems Forever (once again, a pop/punk remix of an N*Sync song. I like this remix way better)
The Chemicals Between Us --> Bush
Crazy Little Thing Called Love --> Queen
Dancin' With Myself --> Billy Idol
Everything Is All Right --> Motion City Soundtrack
Eye of the Tiger --> Rocky Soundtrack (Duh!)
Feel Good Inc. --> Gorillaz
Going The Distance --> Cake
Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger --> Daft Punk (this might be a little too 'electronic' for some, but I find it's an excellent song for transitioning from Warm Up to Main Workout. The beat gets more driving and the "Harder Better Faster Stronger" lyrics are great)
Holding Out For a Hero --> Frou Frou (pop/punk, also fun )
The House is Rockin' --> Stevie Ray Vaughn
How You Like Me Now? --> Heavy (such a great lyric!)
I Want You To Want Me --> Cheap Trick
Impression That I Get --> Mighty Mighty Bosstones
In One Ear --> Cage The Elephant
Machinehead --> Bush (Bush in general is great to work out to!)
The Middle --> Jimmy Eat World
Monkey Wrench --> Foo Fighters
Next Girl --> The Black Keys
Pump It Up --> Elvis Costello
Rockin' The Suburbs --> Ben Folds
Sex Machine --> James Brown ( )
Shook Me --> AC/DC
Song 2 --> Blur
Sweetness --> Jimmy Eat World
Walking on Sunshine --> Ghoti Hook (more pop/punk! There is a theme!)
The Warrior's Code --> Dropkick Murphys
We Will Rock You --> Queen (another one I like for warmup)
When I Grow Up --> Garbage
