FOUND a solution! Double-click in the number field (quantity of food) and it clears the field for new entry. Recommend this tip be posted in plain sight on the page...!

The recent change to the quantity field, adding the "X" multiplier, is causing a problem. When you click in that field to change number, the cursor is automatically positioned just left of the X. ...
