I'm planning on standing in line in the next couple of weeks to take part in my towns free dental care day. Those of you who are on metformin, have you been told not to take it the day or two days before a dental appointment? I would love to here thoughts.

After any procedure, it is very important for somebody with diabetes to keep blood sugars under good control to minimize the risk of infection. If you are going to be fasting before the procedure, it's probably OK to skip the metformin until later in the day, when you begin to take some nutrition again. However, as I am not your physician, your best bet would be to call your physician's office and ask for advice. Most doctors' offices will have at least a nurse practitioner on call to assist you.
