Default Lowering fat in the diet

Beef- Buy ground sirloin, not a percentage of fat ratio mix. The ratios are not accurate and sirloin is a low-fat cut. When you cook it, it will seem dry with the lack of fat. Low sodium fat-free beef broth will help with that.

Pork- Avoid roasts, ribs, and buy pork "LOIN". It again is the lowest fat in pork.

Chicken- skinless breasts

Turkey- skinless breast

Fish- flavored tuna pouches, any fresh or frozen that hasn't been processed, sauced or breaded.

Vegetarian- watch the fat content in soy products.

cheese- go with low-fat, nearly no fat string cheese and avoid the others. No fat cottage, no fat ricotta

Skim milk, non-fat creamer

Low and slow cooking for pork, chicken and turkey in a crockpot can be delicious. Just use fat free broths.

Be careful with lowering the fat that you don't up the sugar content in food.

Just ideas. I follow the diabetic diet, though I am not on medication.
