Talking Brand New!

Hi everybody!

My name is Lauren, I've recently turned 19, and I'd like to get healthier. I just finished my first year of college. I'm 5'8 and currently weigh 185 lbs. I've been steadily losing weight for the last year; at one time last year, I weighed as much as 211 lbs. I naturally stopped eating as much as I did (which was more or less every waking moment) and went down to 185 lbs.

I'd like to keep it off and get even healthier by reaching at least 140 by the time I go back to school (in mid August). I'm pretty happy with myself as it is but it wouldn't hurt to lose weight, look better, etc. I'm going to achieve this through some dieting, running, and lifting.

My biggest fear is hanging skin, so if 40 pounds is too much for the summer, I might not risk it...

Also I love tips and tricks and also meeting new people! Nice to meet all of you, and I'm glad I joined FitDay!

Hey Mango,
Welcome!
At your age, you need not worry about hanging skin, especially with only about 40 pounds as a goal. Your youth will take care of adjusting the skin. It's us old ladies past menopause that can have trouble - dang hormones!

BTW 40 pounds in 3 months is pretty high. (Most of us are doing super well at 8 to 10 pounds a month.) You might shoot for 20 by Aug and then use your new found good habits to keep shedding pounds when you get back to school.
