Question New ** any help and advice needed!

Hello, my name is Tiffany and this is my first time ever joining a website like this. Recently I have decided to make a life long change and get in shape. I am currently 21 years old, 5"4 and 178lbs. Needless to say I am not happy. For the last few weeks I have been going to the gym 6x a week for 2 hours each time doing cardio and strength. I eat around 1300-1500 calories a day, NO soda or junk food, lots of proteins. My problem is that I have yet to see any results. I know its different for everyone but have others had the same problwm? Any input will be appreciated!!

Tiffany, you've come to a great place! It sounds like you have great determination -- good for you.

As far as the weight coming off -- there's a lot for discussion there. I'm so much aware that it took me a while to build up to what I'm today and that it will take me a while to change from flab to fit. I know that when I've taken off the weight too fast, it didn't work for me to maintain because I didn't keep the healthy habits as part of my everyday life. With FitDay, I'm learning what happens when I put certain foods in my body.

Hope you will stick around for more discussion so that you'll be able to find something that "clicks" with you. Feel free to jump in on the other threads around the board.

You're welcome.

About the 60 views -- Please try not to let that bother you. Remember that there are people who like to read more than respond.

Idea: You may want to start a new thread or join in on other threads if there is specific advice that you're seeking after.

Welcome aboard Tiffany. That is a lot of time at the gym. It is possible to overtrain and if that doesn't happen you may just burnout. As far as results, be patient, they will come. Everybody and every body reacts differently, for me I see results FAST... good or bad! I can easilly fluctuate 5 pounds or more a week. Sometimes is good, sometimes not.

Just make sure you log everything accurately and honestly. Many of us also log our sleep.

See ya got another post.

Hi Tiffany, welcome to FitDay. The thing that came to mind for me is the same as for Mike...make sure you log your sleep hours under activities and be absolutely sure you're accurate in your logging of food; weigh/measure everything and get it all in there. Drink water, eat fiber, make sure you have enough healthy fat, and try weighing weekly as opposed to daily if you're doing the latter. Hang in there!!

Welcome Tiffany,
When you say you haven't seen any results do you mean the scale hasn't moved? I would bet you are adding muscle with your workouts. Have you noticed a difference in the way your clothes fit? Not all progress is tied to the scale. Take measurements and track you progress that way too. The 'N00b' effect will have you gaining significant strength and muscle when beginning a exercise/weight program, revel in the gains you will never see them come as quickly again.
