Raising children trying to be healthy for them

Hi!
I am new here and I am a grandma raising 2 young girls wanting to make a good example for them. I home school them and want to teach them good eating habits and exercise habits. I would enjoy talking to anyone with some encouraging advice. I have tried everything. I am 58 and most of my life I have been an avid exerciser. I have been an aerobic instructor and personal trainer but the last 10 years my health has been spiraling because of the loss of a son in car accident. I have finally gotten my mind around that loss and want to live better. I presently have an elliptical that I get on for at least a mile or two a day and walk with a friend for an hour a few times a week. I would like to add some strength training and just be a good role model for these girls age 11 and 9 years old. They are precious and enjoy outdoors and all the healthy things of life so far. I want to be my fittest at 60 so if you have ideas send them my way! Happy New Year to you all!

Welcome, Bevat60.

We have a terrific Women's forum here where I'm sure you'll find all the support you'd like, as well as the other forums.

You'll also find all the tool and resources here to meet your weight goals, and to help with your transition into a healthier lifestyle.

A good way to get situated with both the Discussion Board and FitDay program is to visit this link:

If you have any additional questions we are glad to assist.

Lastly, we'd enjoy having you "stick around" the Forum. We have a close-knit community that is active and encouraging.

Best wishes!
