I've worked second and third shift in the past--I agree there are some challenges to face, but then, there are challenges for us day time workers as well.
I do remember that I used to get by on less sleep working nights, which isn't good. I did used to do my daily walk at 6:00 am when I got out, before having "breakfast".
It's hard but I think if you could figure out some sort of semi-firm schedule you might find it easier.
Do try logging everything (food and exercise) in FitDay--I think you'll find it in invaluable aid. Spend some time reading the forums, there is lots of great advice and some terrific people here.
