Hello,
I am a newbie also!
I am hoping to lose 40lbs in 6 months. I am really just paying closer attention to what I eat so far. Just by doing that today, I ate way less than I usually would.

My motivations are to be healthier, avoid health problems in the future such as diabetes, high BP, High choloesterol, etc. I have a 2 yr old son and want to be my healthiest for him, and be around for a long time! Both of my parents died young.
One motivational tool I am using...Yesterday, I actually wrote down my reasons to lose weight. I wrote them in an MS Word document and have it saved on my desktop, so I see it often. Actually writing down my reasons was helpful, it gave a voice to my goals.

Good luck all! I look fwd to getting and giving support!

Tami,
Good Luck with your weight loss. I seem to have an issue with actually eating 6 small meals, I end up eating only lunch and dinner... so today is my first day of eating multiple small meals. I woke up this morning and did about 25 minutes of working out after I dropped the kids to school and I am feeling great! As I said before I am looking to lose about 30 pounds and I am trying to be realistic and give myself till June 1st. I wish you the best and would love too share info and maybe even help motivate others too.... especially those with similar goals.... I guess I need to buy a scale, I always hated those things!

Anyone that is looking to have someone to "buddy up" with in working to their goals just let me know....

Good Luck Everyone, we are all beautiful!

Hi - I am a newbie too and doing this with my best friend as she is getting married in June and I want to look my very best for her (and myself!). I have a few concerns that are keeping me motivated - I am about to turn 30 and I know with age comes more chance of health issues. I want to be as fit and healthy as I can be to prevent or combat whatever could come my way! Also, my son will be one and half this summer and I want him to see me as an active parent - not someone who sits around all day and has no interest in the outdoors - I want us to get outside and play together! The one motivational "tool" that I am using is Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred - I think the whole idea of doing something for 30 days is completely reasonable, and since I don't have to go to the gym, I know that I will carry it on for far longer. I started yesterday and almost died, but just finished day 2 and it did it no problem (I think I needed to eat closer to the workout yesterday). I am so proud of myself!! Best wishes to everyone for your weight loss and increased health success - we CAN and we WILL do this! ~ K

Hi BBpink! I am looking to lose about 22 lbs in 5 months. I have committed to reducing my caloric intake by planning all my food intake and counting calories and I am committed to working out 5 to 6 days a week. Good luck!

Hi all!
I am also new to Fitday. I'm really enjoying this website and I hope it helps all of us achieve our goals. I would like to lose 20 lbs by the end of March but ideally would like to make it to 30 lbs soon after . It would be great to make some diet friends for encouragement, share stories and maybe healthy yummy recipes. Tomorrow will be 1 week of healthy eating and I'm looking forward to stepping on the scale. I hope it gives me good news!!

Cool New : )

Hi:

This website is phenomenal. I am new. I am hoping to lose about 40-50 lbs in about 6-8 months.

I would love any feedback, ideas etc. What I am doing is trying to be healthy.
Have a good breakfast, lunch, and in evening drink Whey shakes. This is new to me...and I am not in 7-heaven over it. Anytype of feed back anyone has regarding any pointers for losing weight....I am all in!!
