It's snowing like crazy here right now, I'm pretty sure I would rather be there!

Goals:
1) Take time for myself
2) Walk a little everyday.(this will be it until back heals)

4) keep up water/green tea.

Robin

I am joining you, feel I have lost it food wise and need to get back to eating right, so I started logging food, heading to the gym for a swim then water aerobics at 11am, salad for lunch, and light eating for dinner also, trying to get in lots of veggies and fruits, no processed food (or at least a minimum) watching my salt intake, etc.oh, and drinking water, somewhere I lost track of that and need to pull that back in again...
thanks for posting lets try to keep each other on track, ok?

canary52 04-01-2013 01:34 AM

I'm with both of you!! As cnorulak says, let's keep each other on track. Robin, at least you didn't touch the fudge or pie, that's an accomplishment. I eat more than I plan also sometimes and just try and make it up the next day. I hope your back feels better!!! As for weather, it's gonna be gorgeous here in fL and I'm leaving today. I like the take time for yourself and your other goals. And cnorulak you've got good ones too!!! More fruit and veg, less processed foods. We're not fooling!!!

Any more "April Avengers" out there?

jjrudd 04-01-2013 02:34 AM

episode2011 04-01-2013 02:42 AM

Good morning, folks! I hope it's ok to jump on in here. I restarted Fitday'ing on February 1 and now, after two months, figured it was time to take the next step and chat!

You may have noticed my screen name. Yes, I'm a returnee. I should probably change the name to Episode 2013, but seems like name-changing might be more trouble than it's worth.

Anyway, as I said, I hope it's ok to jump in here. Seemed like the time was right: it is a Monday AND is it the first of the month. So, here goes:

Goals for the week:
  • Log everything, no exceptions
  • At least 1500ml water per day
  • Maintain 4-week 1500-1600 calorie average
  • Maintain 4-week 1500mg (or less) sodium average
  • Study every day

Seems doable, right? I hope so!

canary52 04-01-2013 02:46 AM

Welcome, Episode!!! Your plan seems very doable. Good luck with it!!! We'll help you!!!

carolynnq 04-01-2013 04:05 AM

Hope - love your thread title! So many of us struggled last week -- it's perfect. I feel motivated just reading the title. I like reading other people's goals and food plans - it's interesting and sometimes it gives me ideas. Re your learning 3 Spanish words -- I had been learning Tagalog (one of my daughters in law is Filipino) - listening to CDs in the car. But then I stopped having to make a 45-min weekly drive, so mostly stopped. I'm not ready to add it to my weekly goals yet, but I'm now thinking about it.

Welcome, cnorulak! Good goals.

Jenn - hooray for your good start on the day. Keep in going.

Cassie - I liked how you said you treat a plateau like a child having a tantrum - you just don't give in and it strengthens your resolve. I'm taking that to heart and am going to bust that plateau this week.

Welcome, Episode.

Robin - new day today, forget last night's extra snacks. Is your back feeling any better?

Wishing everyone a successful week!

______
My goals:

1. Calories under 1200 (I've lowered it this week)
2. An hour extra movement a day
3. No sugar, white flour
4. Small bites and put fork down between bites.

01gt4.6 04-01-2013 04:26 AM

Monday 3/11/13 - 197.4
Monday 3/18/13 - 188.8
Monday 3/25/13 - 184.0

I had two cheat days to finish off the week. I finished off two pounds up. so I'm stating this Monday at 186.0

1) Lose 3 pounds
2) 100+ ounces of water per day
3) post daily
4) take all vitamins daily

01gt4.6 04-01-2013 04:36 AM

Hope,
Las fresas son rojas
Los arándanos son azules
Espero que este poema completa dos metas para usted
Si no es así
No hay mucho de lo que puedo decir
Me parece que lo que sabemos que esas palabras de todos modos

Mern 04-01-2013 04:39 AM

I'm back. I fell into a rare stint of emotional eating and sedentary lifestyle, and went off my supplements--just didn't care. I missed weighing in at 9AM this morning, my usual time to weigh, but I'm guessing I'm around 230 lbs. now--I hope I'm wrong, but I doubt I am. 18 year old live-in GD got married on spring break from college and moved in that day with her husband, who lives with his parents just 4.5 miles away from my house. The baby is due in July--don't know yet the sex of the baby. She seems happy; her husband, mother-in-law and father-in-law are happy about the marriage and the baby. They are all good people. I just had my heart set on her finishing college before she ever got married or pregnant, whichever came first. I finally pulled myself up by my bootstraps and reminded myself I've lived through tougher things than this and everything will be OK in the end.

This weeks goals are simple: to resume logging every bite of food that goes into my mouth, baby steps to resume exercise--at least three days this week, and take all my supplements daily.

Robingen 04-01-2013 05:08 AM

Welcome back Mern, you fell into an old rut and then pulled yourself back out. There have been lots of slips the past week or 2, you were not alone........

For those who've asked my back is not better yet because I was always trying to work it out before and apparently reinjured myself so this is baby steps this time. Let it actually heal. The hot water bottle is my new best friend. Almost went for a walk- it is cold out though so haven't made it yet.:(

Mern 04-01-2013 05:14 AM

Thanks for the welcome back, Robin. So sorry to learn your back is still messed up. Wishing you a speedy recovery and sending you a big gentle cyberhug.

Mern 04-01-2013 05:17 AM

cnorulak and episode, welcome! Glad to have you with us! :)

01gt4.6 04-01-2013 05:44 AM

Welcome back Mern, congrats for getting yourself back together so quickly!

[email protected] 04-01-2013 05:57 AM

Hey Ya'll looks like we have a group of people wanting help ... so here we are, I have already tracked breakfast and lunch, gone to the gym swam 1/2 mile and did water aerobics, might sit on a bike later today, want to get in lots of exercise....lunch was salad with little turkey, tomato, cuke, and couple of strawberries cut up with 1/2 table spoon of balsamic vinegar and 1/2 tbs of olive oil.. trying not to use salad dressings.... onward.

dmartz 04-01-2013 06:13 AM

Mern! Welcome back! We missed you, and wondered where you were.

Last Week:
  • Calories (average 1371 /day ): 1712
  • Cholesterol < 200mg: 174
  • Vegetables > 3 / day: 3.5
  • Workout > 120 min/wk: 180/wk
  • Protein > 50 g / day: 85
I did good at everything but calories. Although I didn't gain any weight, I will if I kept eating like that. I have to cut back, but my calorie goals last week were unrealistic. Need to find a 'happy' calorie median.

This week:
  • Calories Avg. 1400 /day:
  • Cholesterol < 200mg:
  • Vegetables > 3 / day:
  • Workout > 150 min/wk:
  • Protein > 50 g / day:
My Foolish FitDay Poem:

To be lean,
eat more greens.

carolynnq 04-01-2013 08:15 AM

I'm good food-wise so far today, but haven't exercised at all yet. Up until noon, I'm good. Where I fall down is mid-afternoon and after dinner. Rain just stopped here, so I'm going to get some exercise in now.

Mern!!! Glad you're back (both here on the forum and mentally). I was worried about you. As Robin said, they last week or two have seemed tough for a lot of us. You've done so great, you've just got to keep going.

cnorulak - I wish I had access to a pool - I love to swim. If you keep going like you are, you'll lose the weight in no time.

Donna - Love your poem!

Mike - What exactly are your cheat days? Do you eat as many calories as you want on those days or do you allow yourself to eat foods you normally avoid on those days (and still try to stay within a calorie limit)?

01gt4.6 04-01-2013 08:24 AM

Pretty much eat whatever I want. Saturday wasn't THAT bad but I saw the biggest gain the next morning. Sunday I pigged out and only saw a .2 gain this morning. I've decided that with being on such a low calorie diet, whenever I cheat it makes too big of a dent in my progress. I plan on extending this diet out for another 2 weeks (maybe longer) with no cheating. After than, I'll start working in more calories and have an occasional cheat meal, not an entire day.

Jezzie8 04-01-2013 08:39 AM

Motivation Monday! I've pretty much maintained the past week so not awful but only two week to my trip so want to lose at least 5 more!
Water, Water, Water every day
Try to get more veggies in
Not so many carbs - that's hard
Tracking everything each day - YES

Have a great week all & welcome to the new people

jjrudd 04-01-2013 10:00 AM

WELCOME BACK MERN!!! We all missed you.
Jenn

Robingen 04-01-2013 10:53 AM

Oohh Jezzie, 5lbs in 2 weeks you are gonna have to be extra particular! Hope it goes well.

Well I did walk 4k today...despite the cold. Had extra fruit and veggies today between the green smoothie and the greek salad (I so hope your poem is true Donna).

Here's to an awesome week everyone!

dmartz 04-01-2013 12:44 PM

Omg!

:eek:h My!

I had a half Turkey Muffaletta for lunch. Haven't had one in ages, but it sounded healthy enough. Turkey, olives, hold the Mayo. I did consider the cheese, but though that couldn't be too bad. Just went into total shock when I discovered the sandwich was 1500 calories! It was good, but not that good. Ouch.

- Donna

carolynnq 04-01-2013 01:00 PM

Donna - I hope that calorie count is for a whole sandwich and not half. How big was that sandwich anyway?

Jezzie8 04-01-2013 01:11 PM

LOL Donna. I know how that shock is but I checked before I ordered. Was going to have lettuce wraps at Joey Tomatoes - I think it was 960 calories and 65 g of fat! I was shocked. A burger at 560 calories was a better choice!

Does anyone use the Nutri Bullet? I've been hearing good reports on it & might buy one...

Robin, yes, at the rate I'm losing that 5 lbs might be tough but I'll do my best :-)

dmartz 04-01-2013 02:15 PM

After comparing several sources, I've come to the conclusion that 1500 cals were for the whole sandwich, not the half. The ingredients just don't add up. However, if you go to Jason's Deli site (not where I got my sandwich BTW), they also list 1500 calories for a 1/2 Turkey Maffaletta, but note that it's "served with with chips or baked chips and pickle." Maybe they're adding in the chips.

I decided a more accurate value is probably 800 cals.

- Donna

carolynnq 04-01-2013 02:46 PM

That sounds better. When I was estimating calories, I was thinking 200 each for bread, turkey, and cheese, and another 150 or so for olives.

I've made it through today with no dietary pitfalls - now if I can just last through the next three hours until bedtime - one of my danger zone times.

dmartz 04-01-2013 10:35 PM

Tues.

  • Calories Avg. 1400 /day: 1194
  • Cholesterol < 200mg: 89

  • Workout > 150 min/wk: 55
  • Protein > 50 g / day: 63
My poem for today is food erotica. (Dieters may wish to avert their eyes.)

Ode to a Muffaletta

Your sesame beacons me to eat
and having bit, the ooze of your dairy goodness
so warm
the sharp, tart olive salad
edifies the turkey within.
Should I bite again?
I dare not.

carolynnq, hooray for a good day!

Donna, I'd never heard of a muffaletta before. Love your poem!

Jenn, I hear you with the spring cleaning. I've gotten through some of it already but I really need to tackle the cabinet under the bathroom sink before the clutter in there tackles me!

As for me, so far, so good, even though the scale shows some *cough*minor*cough* transgressions from last week...

Goals for the week:
  • Log everything, no exceptions: yes
  • At least 1500ml water per day: yes
  • Maintain 4-week 1500-1600 calorie average: yes
  • Maintain 4-week 1500mg (or less) sodium average: yes
  • Study every day: yes

cjohnson728 04-02-2013 12:41 AM

Morning, everyone!

A day late, but I'm here and glad to be. Easter was not a disaster and yesterday was crazy busy work-wise, but I stayed on plan as best I could, though I did not take the time to work out. Same goals for me this week, have to master the big stuff before fine-tuning the details again; Monday's report included:

1. Keep calories below 1300. 1200 is better, but often backfires in the evening. 1075
2. Make the time to get some exercise. Being busy is NOT an excuse. 6 days of workouts this week.
3. Take vitamins and supplements. Yes
4. Stay on top of work; falling behind makes it hard to catch up. Yes
5. Sleep. Enough. Fair

...and some stuff I keep putting off:

1. Email tennis coach.
2. Update Linked In profile.
3. Call plumber.
4. Do something I love...3 times this week at least.

Glad to see everyone here and motivated! Hope you all have a wonderful week and that it's starting to warm up where you are :D!

canary52 04-02-2013 02:07 AM

Plan:
one egg with cheese -yes
fruit (if there is any) - the last clementine, then bought fruit salad
gefilte fish and matzo crackers or salad with protein - one scoop tuna salad with salad and ff sf dressingturkey and corned beef roll ups - corned beef, a third of a pound of it, yikes! They gave us too little turkey and too much corned beef at the deli and DD doesn't eat beef
nuts - 100 cal pack
and there I feel down: 2 matzo cookies, bag of Terra Blue chips
small amount of dried fruit - some apricots

canary52 04-02-2013 02:12 AM

1) 6 glasses water minimum - 6
2) plan or log - planned but went over
3) stretch - yes
4) walk or exercise in gym or at home - no
5) write - journal
6) play nice (don't be so touchy, grouchy and downright mean) - umm I was Ok
7) read a poem a day - yup plus I read some here lol!!!
8) learn a minimum of 3 Spanish words a day - si

So glad you like the title and happy you are here!! I'm glad people like my meal plans: I worried they would be boring. Regarding language, I have wanted to learn Spanish for a while now and am tryign to make it les intimidating. Spanish tv is fun. Too bad there is no Tagalog tv!! (is there?) Is it a hard language? It seems like it would be.

Donna, I love the lean greens poem and the ode to your muffaletta!!!

Monday 3/11/13 - 197.4
Monday 3/18/13 - 188.8
Monday 3/25/13 - 184.0

I had two cheat days to finish off the week. I finished off two pounds up. so I'm stating this Monday at 186.0, Tues 183.8

1) Lose 3 pounds -2.8
2) 100+ ounces of water per day yes
3) post daily yes
4) take all vitamins daily yes

I'm off to a good start this week but I'm still up 1 pound from my pre-cheat day weight.

Donna,
A muffaletta is wonderful, so are red beans
If you want the best, you have to come to New Orleans
The food we have here is mighty fine
Where else can you eat great food AND watch a second line?
Once you have a taste of the good deep south
You will realized that nothing so good has ever entered your mouth
I have one fair warning
It may put you in the pits
If you come to NOLA
Stay away from Voodoo chips
Once the voodoo is inside you
You'll be free to roam
No matter where you are
NOLA will now be your home

canary52 04-02-2013 02:26 AM

Robin, have you tried acupuncture?

Jessie, 5 lbs in 2 weeks is a lot but you can do it.

Episode and cnorulak you are doing great!!! Glad you're both part of the group!!! We always enjoy having more good people.

canary52 04-02-2013 02:48 AM

Mike is right, I can attest,
NOLA food is, no doubt, the best.
Coops at midnight for fried chicken,
And Cafe beignets cause finger licking,
Gumbo, crawfish, red beans and rice,
And etoufee is pretty nice,
The food is worth a million trips,
(And don't get me started on the Voodoo chips)
But NOLA is more than just its food,
It can dance a sourpuss into a festive mood
The weather's warm and so are the folks
Who gossip, laugh and trade odd jokes.
They talk funny - that's a fact,
and throw a parade at the drop of a hat.
They really let the good times roll,
That NOLA vodoo just grabs your soul.

canary52 04-02-2013 03:12 AM

Cheat Day Alert:

Fpr now and the next couple of days, I will be cheating. Not on my husband, but on my diet. Yes. Tonight ends Passover and I will be eating the food I have felt deprived off. I will try and fit it into some kind of plan and try to limit the damage with small portions. So here goes:

Egg and egg white
burger or whatever protein I can find around this house (unless I bestir myself to shop) sardines?
100 calorie pack of nuts
dinner:
garlic bread (2 slices)
Salad with garlic and oil dressing
chicken or shrimp parm (half a portion if I can control myself)
a few bites of linguine with garlic and oil

All times are GMT -12. The time now is 05:05 AM.
