I got an amazing 12 hour sleep last night. MAN did that feel good. It's funny, the first thing I thought of was of was the positive effects of sleep on weight loss and so I hopped on the scale... hahaha. It appears that must have been a longitudinal study :P
I was only down .2, but I cannot complain. My body has been good to me the last few weeks with steady losses. I haven't exercised as much in the last few days, being stressed with the cat and overloaded with work, but I'm back on the working-out wagon as of tomorrow.

Happy Tuesday all

Mern, food porn >> But the potato soup was soooo good. It was nice and creamy, the potatoes were just right; tender but not mushy. The cheddar cheese that was mixed into it held it all together nicely. The bacon, ohhhh the bacon. Nice and crispy and gave it just enough salt and smokey flavor. I had it topped with more cheddar cheese and crispy bacon, along with green onions. The crunch of the bacon and green onion, coupled with the smooth creamy cheese and soup mixture was a perfect combination.

Mern, my granddaughter was one of the strangest kids around. You know how most kids would have issues in the check out with all the candy and treats? Well, mine was a problem in the produce department. I remember one particular temper tantrum because we wouldn't buy her broccoli. She just didn't get it that we had broccoli at home. I think she was 3 at the time.

roxy, I'm really sorry that your kitty is so sick. Glad you got lots of rest.

Today I'm in a better frame of mind. Managed a trip through the drive thru to get my son a soda and I didn't get myself anything. I just tried to stay very calm and not let the anxiety get the better of me. Having a bowl of oatmeal now. It's delicious. Dinner tonight is french bread pizza with bell peppers, mushrooms & onions sauteed in olive oil. The bread is high in calories but I think it will fit within my daily goal.

My older daughter is moving back in tonight. she was so quick to move out a week after h.s. graduation across town when she really wasn't prepared for it. She so desperately wanted to have independence, which I totally get, but she didn't have a footing yet. Then her roommate crapped out on her, she lost her job, then she was sleeping on a friend's sofa and her car is breaking down. coming home now to focus on getting back on her feet and getting back into school. i know it's killing her to have to move back home, but it's the best thing for her future.

I'm not going to kill myself if I go over my calories tonight. I really want to focus on making good choices with what I do eat. If I need another bowl of oatmeal later to fill the hole and sidestep cravings, then that's what I will have to do. I'm hoping a shake w/ milk will do the trick, but if not then oatmeal is my back up plan.

Roxy, so glad to read that you got a good sleep! .2 lb. is a win! Best wishes on your exercise. How's the kitty doing?

Mike, I was close to heavy breathing reading your food porn. LOL Now I am not crazy about regular potato soup, but that sounds very close to O'Charley's loaded potato soup that is to die for.

Lisa, I commend you on your restraint at the drive-thru and on your choice for dinner. Since that French bread pizza fits in with your daily goal, then you certainly should allow yourself to indulge. Total deprivation isn't a good idea in my book --leads to burnout. Last year I mentioned to my doctor that I eat almond butter instead of peanut butter and she told me to go for the peanut butter (sensible portion) if I like it better, reminding me that my diet needs to be a lifestyle, not a punishment. Aw, my heart goes out to your daughter and to you. How gracious of you to be so supportive--you are a great Mom! I know it's hard, but the sacrifice you and she make now will reap rewards in the future--I know you and she know that, but maybe also hearing it from others will help in some way. Your oatmeal is such a healthful food to satisfy your hunger. You're a smart cookie--you do what you know is best for you, personally, and that's key to success.

Annette, what a TOTALLY CUTE story about your granddaughter and the tantrum over your not buying broccoli because you already had some at home. Did you exclaim so other could hear you that you have some at home so they wouldn't think you're a horrible grandma who feeds your grandkids only McDonald's chicken nuggets and French fries? I have Camden tomorrow. She'll be here for lunch so I made some extra potsticker patties (husband and I ate them for dinner) loaded with cooked cabbage. I'm hoping she thinks it's meat loaf I'm serving her instead of turkey and cabbage. She loves my meatloaf. (Anyone interested in the recipe can find it at http://www.fitday.com/fitness/forums...b-recipes.html 11-23-14 post #58 by seopitch09 ) I used just ground turkey rather than a combo of ground turkey and ground pork. OMG, they are delicious. I'm going to experiment to try to make a cauliflower dipping sauce to see if she'll go for that--got an idea today passing another recipe on the Internet. The base is pureed cauliflower with cooking juices to thin it and olive oil to help make it smooth, and then one could add other seasonings to it and Parmesan cheese, if desired. I dont' know if she likes Parmesan cheese, so I'll try it the first time without it.

Thanks for all the encouragement. I did eat my veggies soup last night and managed to only nibble very lightly on some pretzels and popcorn. I skipped over all the desserts and ate what I took very slowly so it lasted all game and didn't feel like I was depriving myself. scales went down 2 lbs which is what I was up yesterday. I would like to weigh just once a week, but am too anxious now to wait that long - lol I should try every other day and start slowly.

Mern - so glad you got your granddaughter to eat all her veggies - Tricky Tricky

Lisa- great job getting right back on track. Everyone has those days, it is making smart choices the next time.

Mike - love potato soup - one of my favorites

Looks like everyone is getting their exercise and water as well - two things that I need to get started. Want to add water next week - trying to make these changes in stages and then exercise the next.

See everyone tomorrow - have a nice evening

Annette, it sure sounds like you have a strange one. Broccoli of all things?

Lisa, we have an 18 year old that talks about moving out. She wouldn't make it a week. I think that kids don't realize how difficult it can be until they try to break away. Then suddenly they realize they didn't have it so bad after all.

Mern, never been to O'Charley's. I was going to post a pic (yes I took a pic of it when I made it). Unfortunately, I'm on my phone and could get the link to the thumbnail pic. If I were to post it, it would probably take up your whole screen.

Lynda, I've been indifferent to potato soup. This was really good and super easy to make so I'm sure I'll be making it again soon.

Lynda, congrats on your success! Kudos on eating your veggie soup last night and then nibbling sensibly after that. Nice reward to be back down those two pounds! I used to weigh daily, but got discouraged by the normal scale fluctuations from a fickle scale, not enough water one day or too much salt, time of day weighed, not putting it in exactly the same spot on my not perfectly level floor... Now I weigh maybe twice a week. Thanks for your amusement with my trickiness getting my great-granddaughter to eat more veggies. I'm on a mission. LOL Hey, getting your healthful lifestyle together in stages is just fine--and smart! Way to go!
