WooHoo!!! So happy with today's number. It's the lowest it's been in a long time. I also pushed myself to walk further today and made it to 5.03 miles!
Wow Christy....5 miles! I don't think I can even do a mile yet. My goal is to reach 299 by October 30th. I am having some major female issues right now and going to OBGYN at 9 am (ugh) At 55 I should not be cramping and bleeding and bloated

Start date
9/2/14- 340

Today's Weight
10/07/14- 314

Great job Christy!!

Happy with today's number for me, too. I'd love to be below 176 tomorrow. I might not hit 175.0 by Friday, but being under 176 would be fantastic! (I'm losing weight quickly as I expected to from water weight loss, so it's not surprising for me at all)

October
10/3 -- 178.6
10/4 -- 178.0
10/5 -- 177.0
10/6 -- 178.2 <-- sodium bloat
10/7 -- 177.2
10/8 -- 176.4 (yay!)
GOAL - 10/10 -- 175.0
GOAL -- 10/17 -- 174.0
GOAL -- 10/24 -- 173.0
GOAL -- 10/31 -- 172.0 (Trick or treat! )

Thanks Ladies! I didn't walk this morning due to a lingering migraine from yesterday. This weather is horrible and I'm hoping it's done for now. We don't need any more rain.

Rosie, two months ago, I could barely walk a mile. I've built up to it and pushed myself the last couple of days. It's hard but so worth it.

Part of the reason I have renewed my efforts on losing weight and being more active and fit is due to the death of a man I have known for about 14 years. I didn't know him terribly well but we knew each other due to do a NASCAR fan club to which we both belong. The group got word Saturday morning that he passed away, believed to be a heart attack (the family doesn't have the autopsy report back yet). He was only 37 and barely 7 months older than me. He was very overweight and I'm sure that this contributed. I can't image what his family is going through and I don't want that same thing.

Christy, I'm here for the same reason, only I'm the one that had the heart attack. Obviously, I was one of the fortunate ones and survived, but I want to keep it that way. Now that I have had one MI, I could easily have another if I don't look after myself. Husband is now smoking outside, eating vegetables every day, keeping my sodium count under 2300 mg per day, and watching my sugar.

Unhappy Very bad day :(

So....I never got to weigh myself this morning as I had to be at the OBGYN at what to me is the crack of dawn (9 am) Sounds strange to normal people but I went to bed at 5 am.

The Dr scale said I weighed 319, but that was fully clothed, so I'm not sure what my actual weight was this morning. Bad news is I have so many fibroids in my uterus and my ovaries are so covered with cysts the ultrasound tech couldn't see anything but cysts. I have had 3 progesterone treatments for the same problem in 3 years, and being menopausal it is time to take everything out.

I will get my biopsy report Monday while the office contacts my insurance company to begin the process of hospital choosing and setting a date, probably in about three weeks time. I will probably lose some weight with the surgery as I have so much mass right now in my uterus from collected blood that can't escape because of fibroids blocking my cervix.

A concern (besides the fear of the surgery and pain) I have is, while in the hospital and until I can prepare my own food, I will not have people who understand fully what I am doing and how to "feed me" what I need in order to not slide backwards from all I have achieved this month.

Thank you for being a sounding board...even if you didn't want to know all this.

RosieRags,

You'll probably feel much MUCH better after your surgery. Can you get your doctor to support your diet choices so that when you're in the hospital, you will have what you want to eat?

I predict you will lose weight in the hospital because of the controlled portion sizes and the lack of snack foods (ask people not to bring you treats).

Arlene -- So sorry to hear about your troubles, that sounds annoying, painful, and scary. However, I'm glad that they're scheduling the surgery to get all of that mess taken care of, and I'm sure you will feel SO much better.

One of the good things about medical staff is that they're trained to deal with lots of different patient needs - including dietary. Their #1 goal will be getting the nutrition you need to get you well, but if you explain to them your dietary wants and needs, I predict they'll be supportive, helpful, and do what they can for you! As Kathy said, the controlled portion sizes will help. Don't snack, don't go off-plan, and you'll be better and back to doing it the way you'd like to do it before you know it. It's important at this point to get well!
