LOL I just got back from taking my 10 and 12 year old grandkids to a buffet for lunch. But I also took this group along with me--peeking over my shoulder and steering me away from the carby foods I'd have loved to cheat with. I was thinking about you all as I chose my foods, beginning with Hope at the baked fish pan and finally with Debbie at the dessert table. My plate had rotisserie chicken (didn't eat the skin), baked fish, a few Brussels sprouts, green beans, boiled cabbage, just a bit of sauteed onions and green bell peppers. Dessert was sugar free jello with sugar free whipped topping, strawberries, and a very minor cheat of a one inch cube of Rice Krispies marshmallow treat. Granddaughter misunderstood and thought her brother wanted a piece of chocolate fudge candy which she got for him, but he was just talking about it, not wanting it, and I had the courage to just wrap it up in a napkin and bring it home for DH.

Gotta confess that had I not returned to posting with our group, I'd have gone on a carb binge at the buffet.

In view of all the veggie carbs, I'll have to calculate how much I have left (out of my allowed daily 25 net carbs to manage my blood sugar without meds) for the remainder of the day before I plan my dinner and snacks.

Great job Mern!!! To show restraint at a buffet is not easy I'm sure...although I can't say I've ever eaten at a buffet style restaurant? But I imagine if it was filled with tempting foods, I'd want to try a bite of everything! Awesome willpower lady!

Thanks, Debbie, for your encouragement! The buffet doesn't have a bunch of fatty foods, but it does have tons of offerings that are too high carb for me that were quite tempting. But posting a list of them would be food porn that could drive readers to cheat--seriously. Hope mentioned this morning macaroons which I don't have the willpower to resist. So happy that I have all the ingredients to make some yummy low carb ones in the microwave tonight.

Jenai, thanks so much for posting your lentil soup recipe. I can easily adapt it to my food guidelines by using black soybeans instead of lentils and omitting the carrots. Thanks for the suggestion of using baby spinach, too--we always have that on hand. I haven't made it yet, but I will soon. Can't be anything BUT delicious. Oh, how nice to cook it in the crockpot--will save adding more humidity to our house in hot and sticky Ohio.

Libby, what kinds of sweet things do you crave? Something I rediscovered is frozen grapes. Nice sweet summery treat. Just a thought and suggestion for something different. Keeping busy is a good way to keep your mind off the cravings.

Hope, I'm really glad you decided to stay with us!

Debbie, I do that a lot...post about how great I did that day and then go stick my hands into something to ruin it afterwards. lol Wouldn't it be nice if the summer camp gave you some advance notice? Organizations like summer camps and schools don't think about that sometimes. Did you get them all together and the kids were happy?

Mern, excellent job at the buffet! Sounds like you did fantastic! And you got to spend quality time with the kids too.

Yesterday I did sort of ok at 1630 calories. 1600 is the top end of my goal range, and I had been right on target for just a little over 1500, but then I got the munchies and didn't resist a dip into the chip bag. Today (so far) I've done really well. I don't know if I calculated dinner exactly right, but it's pretty close. I made a casserole and I meant to measure out each ingredient into a separate bowl for myself, but I forgot and mixed all the cheese in before I could measure the other. I think I got a pretty close estimate though. If I only have what's left on my day's plan I will be at 1526. Pretty good. But I really need to get in a 1400 day or two. Curious to see what tomorrow's weigh-in will be.

I'm glad all you ladies are here for such great motivation and support! I do so much better when I know I'm coming here to report my successes and failures. I appreciate all of you!

Accountability Check In

Keep calories low - breakfast - Greek yogurt and raspberries (yup....the same thing again ), lunch - homemade chicken ceasar salad, snack - air popped popcorn dressed with parm cheese and dinner-California roll sushi with crab, avocado and cucumber with low sodium soy sauce for dipping....so probably around 1200-1300 cals? I am sipping some vino...AGAIN...but I'm painting a counter top for the new laundry room while I watch a show and paint so no munchies should sneak into the picture! LOL!
Exercise a lot - 20 minutes skipping intervals...again crazy intense!! I was short on time today, but I was determined to get in a workout so I just cut my regular workout in half and tried to keep the intensity high!
Drink a lot of water - 64 oz...better than the last two days!

I know I'll show a loss tomorrow but mostly because I was so up at the beginning of the week. The true test will be if I can pull off a loss next week?!?!

Jenai - 30 cals over your top range! Pfft....that's nothin'! You're still on track in my books!

See you all tomorrow at weigh in!

hello all. I had a good day compared to yesterday. I could not get to sleep on Tuesday not until like 4 in the am. I had to take a sleeping pill to get any rest. I had a bad headache. I woke up on Wednesday and it was even worse. I took my imetix and it finally easy off. It was a short day t0day only 6 hours. So had plenty of time to grill some pork chops for supper. I will admit to eating several snicker doodle cookies, I did not eat the whole dozen. Have several for snack at work tomorrow. I did well even with the cookies. I do not have time to answer everyone. We all need to stay here and post and it doesn't matter if we stay on plan - at least we are showing progress by being here. I will get my exercise in t his week end I will be working on my berry beds.

Goals for the week
drink lots of water-m-y,t-y, w-y,t-y
log everything I eat-m-y,t-n,w-n could not stay on computer long.t-y.
Post everyday.-m-y,t-y,w-n, t-y

Libby and Jenai, I often enjoy frozen peaches and frozen strawberries.

Jenai, thanks for your encouragement on my accomplishment at the buffet yesterday. I had a great time with the kids. I know we have to set limits and calorie ranges, but I doubt your body will notice the 30 calorie overage. I've done that where I meant to measure out my own modified dish, different than for my family. "Eyeballing" for portion control often pays off when we forget to measure. Well done! I tend to run away rather than report a failure, but I'm going to strive to not do that anymore because in my absence I let go and binge.

Debbie, you're doing a wonderful job--working so hard to get to your goal weight even though you are in a very healthful weight range. I wanna be like you when I "grow up." Yes, you were up at the beginning of the week, but you also worked VERY hard and EARNED that nice loss this week. Your California roll sushi with crab, avocado, and cucumber sounds so yummy! I've never had crab or lobster. I'm sure sipping a glass of wine is much better than snack munching! My dinner last night wound up being just taco meat (courtesy of my son) on a low carb tortilla and a coconut cookie/candy patty. I did well again on my evening snack last night due to this group's encouragement of my getting a handle on evening munchies. I had cold leftover meatloaf and a small flaxmeal muffin with peanut butter---that protein and a little fat helped carry me to bedtime without going over in carbs.

Nyda, so sorry about your sleep problems! Is the Imetix for migraine headaches? Three of my daughter's four children get migraines complete with the dizziness, distorted vision, nausea and vomitting. They inherited it from their father. I've had only one true migraine in my whole life with all the symptoms my grandkids have. The headache pain was so intense that I passed out on the bathroom floor--I guess my brain just couldn't deal with the intensity--it literally felt as if someone was hitting me in the head with a hammer. That experience taught me much compassion for people who have true migraines. There are a lot of people here in the midwest who think migraine headaches are just bad headaches with no other symptoms--they have no idea... Kudos on the grilled pork chops and not eating the whole dozen of snickerdoodles. LOL Golly, no one here is expected to have the time to answer everyone. I often have to just skim all the posts and sometimes I just offer general congrats to those doing well and hugs of support to those who aren't. I so agree that we all need to stay here and post even if we don't stay on plan--now if I can get myself to do that I certain will consider that progress. Thanks for your encouragement.

I think we're going out to eat tonight to a barbecue restaurant (choice slow-smoked chicken, beef, or pork in a tomato based, spiced sauce) and I will ask for mine with no bun and transfer it to a low carb tortilla. They have a few low carb sides and I may indulge in a complimentary vanilla soft-serve ice cream in a very small cone that holds maybe 1/4 cup of ice cream at the most. Before dinner I'll eat very low carb all day--zero cholesterol egg and reduced fat cream cheese omelet with spinach for breakfast. Lunch will be skinless baked chicken and a protein shake. I promise to report tonight or tomorrow what I ate today in addition to the stuff I reported in this post.

I am still here, just maybe changing my focus. I put my scale away again because it tends to be a tyrant lol. I just think I am too hooked on the numbers right now. I am also backing off the planning a bit because I think I have been rebelling. But I support you, Mern. Happy to be peeking over your shoulder so to speak lol.

I don't think I have to go to hell in a hand basket ( hatever that means exactly) as I have been. I know the foods that are not good for me: chocolate (wicked hot flashes), sugar (makes my fibro flare up in numbness and tingling) too much dairy (causes congestion and then I tend to get colds and upper respiratory probs) and sadly tomatoes (cause itchy rashes and rosacea.) I want to learn to trust myself to eat right to break the cycle of feeling deprived and then binging.

Debbie and Jenai, thank you! Nyda,I hope you feel and sleep better.

Still here...

Good morning all! It's my 15th wedding anniversary today and me and my husband are going out for dinner tonight with two other couples. I'm planning to eat my favourite dish...which is most likely not low cal even though it's chicken, veggie and capelini pasta...it's the sauce that I'm sure pushes it over the top. I so rarely get to go out though, so when I do I just enjoy myself. Tomorrow will be the big test...to get right back on track! I'll post to let you all know how I do with that.

Nyda - Nothing quite like not being able to sleep! Oy!! I think we've all had nights like that eh!

Mern - Thanks for the compliment I have worked hard this week, but have also had some slip ups so I was happy to have made a dent in the water weight. This next week will be very telling! Enjoy your evening out!

Hope - A few weeks back, I had set some serious goals for myself trying to hit a certain number of macornutrients, calories and burn a certain number of calories. It was a good week ont he scale, but then I slipped off the rails again. This week, I made my goals loosey goosey and didn't put numbers on anything. Emotionally, it's been easier for me to stick to something that isn't as stringent. All this to say that sometimes not planning can work too!

Have a great day all! I'll check back in with you all later!
