This is true Ian! Thanks for the gentle shove in the right direction...I needed that reminder and motivation!

I was up at my regular time this morning and got in a 40 minute full body circuit workout. Part way through my workout, I realized I haven't changed the weight on my heart rate monitor in a very long time! I checked it after and realized it was set 12 lbs. heavier than I am....which means I've been burning significantly less calories than I thought. It dawned on me this morning that when it's said that 'it gets harder to lose weight whe the get closer to goal'...is not just because you have less weight to lose. It is amazing how much more efficient my body is at regulating my heart rate now that I've exercised consistently for 6 months. My heart rate used to go up much higher and stay up there until I was done my workout. Now, I have to push harder everyday to get my heart rate up and to also keep it up! It's good to know that not only have I shed 'weight', but I've developed endurance, increased my heart health and changed my body composition. I still have some work to do, but my arms and legs show visible muscle definition even when I'm not flexing. I hope the last 10 pounds comes directly off my waist/torso!

Have an awesome day everyone!

I have had a good week as well. I just hope the scale agrees tomorrow morning. The treadmill is calling my name.
I had a sliver of birthday cake this evening. It was yummy. My calories were still under my limit.

Well, as I write this I finished the chocolate bar that I just bought on my run (oops I mean drive) to the corner store (I went for something else and then I got blasted with temptation). So I need to figure out the why. I suspect that I had not eaten enough today, maybe I will try a food log for today and see. I also had a super busy day at work, etc. I know that being tired and hungry is a huge trigger for me.

All is not an EPIC fail though, overall things are going well.

Libby, awesome job at the birthday dinner. I hope it pays off in a loss before your appt.

Lildebbie, I hear ya about the calorie burn but you are right, there are all kinds of reasons that the increased fitness is worth it.

Goals:

1. Increase water- M-Y, T-Y, W-Y, Th-Y
2. Gym 2x this week- M-Y, T-N, W-Y, Th-N
3. Drink green tea- M-N, T-Y, W-Y, Th-Y
4. Reduce junk food/make healthy choices-M-Y, T-ok, W-Y, Th-N
5. At least 1 walk (on a day when it's not below -10)- M-N, T-Y (small one), W-Y, Th-N

Good morning all. It's Friday and I weighed in at 170.4 which is 3.1 pound loss from last week. Now I need to stick to plan and keep the momentum going to get the rest off. Tomorrow we are going out to celebrate my sons birthday at Montanas and it will be steak strips and salad for me. We had freezing rain last night and there is ice every where. I am staying home today.

Good morning I was up at my regular time again this morning and got in a 40 minute cardio circuit workout. I did extra cardio last night and my legs were so tired this morning, but I powered through.

I decided to keep Friday as my weigh day. I figure weekends will be hard regardless of when my weigh day is. So the week was not as epic as I'd hoped, however it also was not the epic fail I anticipated. I almost maintained from last week...I'm up .6 lbs....but only .6 so that's okay....for now I also did my measurements and was pleased to see those numbers continuing to decrease. Overall a good week! It's looking unlikely that I'll hit my February weight target, but I'll give it my all for the next 7 day to try to get as close my goal as I can!

Have a great day all!

Glad to hear you are all doing well. I was thinking this morning it might be good to post at the end of the month all the gains we have made aside from the scales. My main purpose is improving my fitness although losing weight is an essential part of that.

I'm down nicely this week and should make the 5 pound goal by next Friday without much trouble. Family visiting again this weekend but I plan to control the foods in the house. It worked last weekend except I had some bread. If I buy any treats they will be ones I can easily resist. Plain Chips - NO Flavoured Chips - No Problem.

Have a great weekend everyone. I hope to get to the Y for weights and aquafit before my son and grandsons arrive. That would make for a record 4 times this week!

Good job Libby! Debbie .6 gain is nothing!

Haven't felt like posting this week. Went to Dr appointment with specialist on Tues. I got an assistant who I didn't like. She was all confused over the meds I take and I've been on the same meds since I started (one increased from 2 tablets to 3).
Came home very discouraged. Weight was up but it must have been from TTOM because it's back down today. Plus it doesn't help I have boots on.

I can talk to the dietician and nurse at diabetes centre when I go in a month. Hopefully that will help.

I need to get re-focused on diet and exercise. I'm just having a hard time motivating myself. Most people have family (kids, grandkids) to be healthy for--I don't. I have to realize that I'm worth it but I'm not there at the moment.

debbie- those are some good points you make about remembering to monitor and adjust your routine based on your newy aquired abilities! It sounds like you've benefited from much more than just plain weight loss, but have made our heart and body stronger in the process. Not too shabby

ian- hmmm...an embarrasing job that does not exist in the US....

libby
- that is awesome on your temptation resistance. Only eating a sliver of the cake is wayyyyyyy better than eating the chinese and a large piece of cake. Woot! Good for you. When you are on a mission, things are a lot easier to say no to.

Robin- I too have found that when I feel "cheated" by my daily intake of food, resisting bad stuff such as chocolate is practically impossible. Def. log foods if you find yourself in this position again. It's very helpful to know what to anticipate for the evening and if you have any "wiggle" room.

Mary- I always buy junk food I don't like as I have a family and it would tempt me too much if I actually bought things that I like. This is a great tactic that I highly reccommend. Sounds like you've done a great job so far

jjrudd- Motivation is the single most important thing when it comes to weightloss. I've had large periods of problems with motivation, so I can certainly relate. You need to find what's important to you and maybe make a list. Something I heard recently that I thought I would share and you might find helpful. Find a photo of yourself at a time & place, etc that you were most happy. Keep the photo close by and look at it for atleast 10 min each day and absorb those positive feelings. I did this over Christmas- and do it periodically now and have found this to be surprisingly helpful with motivation. Sounds a little odd- but try it!!!!

Me- I've been doing good with my water and green tea goals. I am planning on going to the gym at least 6 x this week. My 2 lb weight loss has motivated me to be more vigilant and I am anxious to get this show on the road. No time like the present. Let's DO this

Good morning. This weekend I refuse to go off track just because it's the weekend and I have company. With planning I should be able to stay below my used calories. These weekends do come up every 5 days and there is always some excuse to blow it. 2 out of 7 days is over 25 percent of my time. If I want to reach my goal I can't waste that time on food I will regret come Monday.

I wish I was back to the younger days where Monday regrets had nothing to do with food!
