7 Day Motivational Thread 9/30/13

Good morning all.

I'll be making some goals for Tori and myself. She doesn't know yet but that's okay.:D

My Goals:
1) eat clean
2) drink lots of water
3) 3 fruits/veggies per day
4) walk 10 miles

Tori's Goals:
1) drink lots of water
2) no mindless eating
3) walk TBM 4 times
4) visit TJC 2 times

jjrudd 09-30-2013 03:28 AM

Good morning Mike! Thanks for starting us off. Went to vegetarian dinner at church last night. It was good but too many carbs. I should have stayed away from the dessert table as they only had cake.

Anybody here watch Rachael Ray? She had a whole audience full of people who have lost a lot of weight--some well over a hundred pounds. What an inspiration.

Goals
1. Drink 6 glasses of water
2. Eat sensibly
3. Exercise 4X for 30 min
4. Lose 1lb (at least)

Personal goals
1. write more
2. finish cleaning house
3. work on scrapbook

Jenn

Robingen 09-30-2013 03:35 AM

Good morning guys! Jenn I never watch it but I think watching anything inspirational is a good idea. I could watch "never give up, Arthur's transformation" again and again, right Mike?

I somehow need to be letting go (not stressing) about the things not getting done! I know I need to work on that this week.

Goals:

1. Eat healthy
2. Drink water
3. Walk, walk, walk.

Robin

Mike is Tory on the walking challenge?

01gt4.6 09-30-2013 03:37 AM

Robin, yeah that's a good one. I don't think she is.

canary52 09-30-2013 04:03 AM

Hiya guys

My goals:
1) lose some frigging weight
2) stop eating so much frigging sugar
3) go to the gym why don't I 3x this week
4) stretch DAILY
5) set priorities for work

OK see y'all soon, back to work (priority)

01gt4.6 09-30-2013 07:47 AM

Sorry guys, I posted this in the wrong area. I moved it to the right area. Rookie mistake.

astralmonkey 09-30-2013 08:07 AM

Hello everyone, I am new here so I am not sure if I am even in the right place.

I am 31 years old 5'3 and started getting back on track in May of this year. Since May 2013 I have lost 38lbs (starting weight 233, current 195). I currently alternate running and walking 30 mins per day (working on stamina to run the whole time) 4 days per week, do a 1 hour hip hop Cardio class 1 day per week and eat as clean as possible. I also incorporate Cardio Yoga a few days per week.

I have been feeling discouraged because I haven't seen any weight loss in almost 2 weeks now. My goal is to lose 60 more pounds - but not seeing a steady decrease as I have been has been playing with my mind.

I decided to try and log what I eat to see if that might be the problem, and of course looking for people to tell me this is normal and give me virtual pats on the back! LOL

I also would like to start HIT or weight lifting - however my schedule with two small kiddos limits what I am able to squeeze in. Any advise or suggestions?

Thanks for listening.

Mern 09-30-2013 10:38 AM

Mike, thanks for locking my thread I started after not noticing yours.

Everyone, sorry 'bout the confusion.

Goals this week:

lose 3 lbs.
Eat on plan my doctor and I formulated for me
Exercise 150 minutes this week
Water 64 oz. per day

Today's planned menu:
Breakfast: flaxmeal with protein powder and decaf coffee
Lunch: chicken salad with almonds, celery, and ranch dressing
Dinner changed to: salmon patty, low carb pasta with veggies and Alfredo sauce.

On THE CHEW today, Mike Symon was leery about people going vegetarian because he was concerned about blood sugar rising out of control, but there are a TON of low carb, low calorie veggies jam-packed with good vitamins--especially the green ones: spinach, kale, broccoli, Swiss Chard, green beans, asparagus, cabbage, just to name a few.

Nice to see so many regular posters here, starting the week off by listing your goals. :)

Astralmonkey, welcome and congrats on your weight loss so far. I hope you find all the support here that you are looking for. :)

iansteele 09-30-2013 11:33 AM

I better jump back in before I put this off any longer.

I hit my goal weight about 2-3 weeks ago so now I'm really just trying to get in better shape which seems like the hardest part of this whole journey. I'm just too lazy to work out :( Think I'll skip on this weeks walking challenge since it's going to be raining quite a bit, but each time I'm slaving away on the bike at home I'll pretend I'm running.

Woke up on Sunday and there was water all over the kitchen floor, gf gave me a telling off about getting drunk and making a mess, although I was 99% sure it had nothing to do with me, then yesterday I get home and there's water on the floor again... now I'm 100% sure it wasn't me. Need to investigate.

Goals:
Keep calories in/out more or less equal (+-500)
Exercise everyday
Adequate protein intake
Only hit the bottle once this week
Complete at least 50% of daily to-do list

adyndravo1 09-30-2013 01:25 PM

Hi all. I have been painting again. Spent 2.5 hours climbing up and down a ladder. I got the ceiling painted in the hall and through the kitchen. When the house was built they plastered the ceiling but did not paint it. Can't wash it this way you wash off the plaster. Was wondering does ladder climbing count as walking. Will be doing a lot of it this week. After I paint the ceiling then I have to go around and scrub all the high spots.

Mike nice to see you back

Astralmonkey welcome new people are always welcome.Makes the journy more fun. When I was going to weight watchers I was told that sometimes when we stop loosing as fast, our body is catching up. Have you measered you self lately. You may be loosing inches instead of pound right now.

It's a rough start to the week but I did show up.

Robingen 09-30-2013 11:02 PM

Hey Ian welcome back and congrats on meeting your goal. Meet you for walking later? You really need to find some more enjoyable exercise to stick to it. Good luck with the water.

Nyda, for sure up and down the ladder burns cals.

Astralmonkey, welcome :) 2 weeks slow/no loss is normal! We are all tricked by the early on fast weight loss. As I got closer to my goal it was about 2 pounds/month. You may not be doing anything wrong.

Libby, you can do it:)

The walking challenge is gonna be a challenge time wise, oh I could get up earlier I suppose, I have done it before.

Goals:

1. Eat healthy, M-Y
2. Drink water, M-Y
3. Walk, walk, walk. M-2 miles

libby116 10-01-2013 01:31 AM

I had no lose in September and I am above the yellow line in the weight report.
Now that the stress of surgery is over I can get back to healthy eating and exercise. I want to lose 2 pounds this week. I am going to go out for a walk.

astralmonkey 10-01-2013 02:34 AM

Thank you all for the support! I am beginning to realize that one of the biggest obstacles of this journey is my MIND! I know that if I keep moving forward and doing the "right" things that there is only 1 outcome!

I am seeing changes in my body even if the stupid scale doesn't move, so I know that it is working.

My goals this week:
Run longer intervals
Lose 1-2lbs
Log all foods I eat.

I really love the atmosphere here and the encouragement of fellow people going through the same journey!

01gt4.6 10-01-2013 04:17 AM

My Goals:
1) eat clean yes
2) drink lots of water yes
3) 3 fruits/veggies per day yes
4) walk 10 miles 0

Mern 10-01-2013 04:50 AM

I did well on food yesterday, but not on water. No exercise yet, but I will. Weekend will be challenging as I'm going out of town with my sister for a family reunion.

Ian, congrats on making your goal weight! Geez, I hope you figure out your water problem. Best wishes on your goals.

Nyda, I don't know how to count the ladder climbing, but I do know it burns calories. Nice advice to astralmonkey about measuring to see if inches are being lost rather than weight.

Libby, how are you feeling post surgery? Major kudos on showing up. Sounds like you've made up your mind to put in some great effort this week.

Hi, Robin. Congrats on a solid Monday report. :)

Astralmonkey. Great attitude that will take you a long way. :)

Hi, Mike, Nice report and thanks for hanging with us.

Hope, what are you eating today?

Today's menu:
Breakfast-unintentionally skipped due to a crazy morning. I should have at least made a protein shake.

Lunch was a Grilled Portabella mushroom wrap: grilled onion, and Swiss cheese on a low carb tomato-basil tortilla. (Simply remove mushroom stem and scrape out black gills with a spoon, season as desired (I just drizzled it with balsamic vinegar--I skipped salt and pepper) and saute 4-5 minutes in a drizzle of olive oil until cooked through. Top with grilled onion and melt the cheese on top.

Snack: protein shake and celery stuffed with chicken salad made with shredded chicken breast , almonds, celery, onion, and ranch dressing.

Dinner: leftover salmon patty, green beans with turkey bacon, cooked spinach, fresh strawberries

Snack: might be a repeat of afternoon snack

01gt4.6 10-01-2013 05:27 AM

Mern, so far so good. Day one.

adyndravo1 10-01-2013 07:23 AM

hi everyone. Stoped painting to have lunch. Will be back at it in a few. I want to get all the ceiling done to the beam the covers the join spot on the double wide.Tomorrow the living room. We sitting with some other people and got talking about the hyperactivity that comes with the migrains sometimes. She said that I clean house like a crazy woman when it hits. O think I am in one of those moods. First the ceiling then the cleaning and then paint the trim and the doors. Have the paint might as well use it.

THen came home and did some more cieling. Almost through the living room.Looks like I will have enough for the mudroom, then it will be time to do all the trim in white. So very busy going up and down ladders all week.
ladies it is interseting to see your menues everyday, I don't think I would do well on some of the stuff you eat. Cabbage must be raw or pickled, and same goes for anyothe member of the cabbage family. Great to see the different foods and what you can doe with them.

Ian you are winning the walking challenge so far and not even on it lol.

Well my day was crazy busy.........long day at work, supper out, massage, shopping (I didn't say it was hard) but because of this thread, I made myself go for a little walk at lunch and it was an awesome beautiful day.

OMG Jenn I won't clean the house til the last minute....you are on the ball!

libby116 10-02-2013 10:41 PM

I am with you Jenn, cleaning the house for Thanks giving. Washing walls and windows, polishing wood furniture. The hardest part is putting all my craft projects away because I work on the dinning table. This is the first year that I am hosting Thanks giving dinner. Other years I have had the family over for New Years day but the kids complained because they always went out for new years eve and wanted to relax the day after. I used to make scalloped potatoes and ham with assorted vegetable dishes and several desserts. Now I have to cook a turkey and I have never cooked one before. Should be interesting.
Thanks giving is the second week end in October for us Canadians. I better get busy.

jjrudd 10-03-2013 02:29 AM

I'm the same Libby--cleaning places that don't get cleaned as regularly. Not only do I get a clean house I've also lost a pound from the calories I've burned. I'm doing well on my water intake this week too!

Next week it's going to be a little cooler--in the teens instead of mid twenties so I can go for more walks.

Well we've been kicking around honeymoon ideas and it's looking like the beach. Right now I'm looking at Montego Bay. I guess that means if I'll be walking around shirtless for a week in Jamaica, I need to drop this weight. For the past couple months I've been back over 200. I started this week at 206.2:o, I've pretty much undid all that I've done. On the bright side I know what to do. This morning I was down to 200.4. I need another week or two of big losses that I can stick to a pound a week. I guess I need to get back to work so I can pay for this trip. ;)

libby116 10-03-2013 07:10 AM

I thought I would get a lot more done today but I am exhausted. I feel like I am running out of time. I am going to rest for a while and get back to it.

It's going to be an inside day because it's raining and will continue for several days according to the forecast. I have lots to do indoors any way. I have been eating junk to reward my self for all the hard work. I should stop that. The house is looking better. I need to get a table cloth because all I have is a Christmas one with poinsettias on it. I could use some Thanks Giving decorations for around the house. Maybe we can go shopping today. My pants are so loose they are almost falling off and I almost tripped on the hem yesterday. Talk about working your a$$ off. Ha Ha :p

jjrudd 10-04-2013 02:22 AM

Raining here too. Oh my goodness Libby I have to laugh at how in sync we are! I need to get a tablecloth too!
Have to put my laundry away and then I will work on cleaning the bathrooms. UGH not my favourite job but must be done!

Jenn

libby116 10-04-2013 03:45 AM

Todays job is vacuuming. There is dog hair all over the house and dead flies.
Yucky. Floor washing and bath rooms tomorrow. Does it ever end?
