Homemade Pizza...

When we make homemade pizza, my husband cuts the pieces into squares (very common in NE Wisconsin...where we live). Does anyone know how to estimate how many of those pieces equals 2 normal triangle pieces of pizza? It's a 16" pizza.

I calculate my homemade pizza by adding up all the ingredients for the whole pizza. Then I log the % of how much I ate.

I use the whole wheat dough from TJ or I make a low carb cauliflower crust. :D

vabeachgirl, I've been wanting to try the cauli crust. I may give it a shot this week. :D

I usually do what vabeachgirlNYC does, but if you can't, maybe you can go by fractions. If you know the slice of round pizza has, say 300 calories, then the whole pizza would have 2400 if it has 8 slices. So if your pizza is the equivalent size and has 2400 calories, then just divide 2400 by the number of squares and you should have your cals per square.

The other thing you could do would be to weigh it. I don't know if FitDay does or not, but many calorie counting sites will give the caloric values in grams.

Cauliflower crust? Recipe? I am super curious now!

I use the surface inch entry. So if the slices are 4"x4", then you ate 16 square inches of pizza, and if you had 2 then it's 32. The other thing you can do is use a recipe calculator (type in "recipe calculator" at the Google prompt, there are lots of them), build your recipe with the ingredients you use, and then divide it by the number of slices you generally cut, and it will give you the nutritional value of a serving and you can make a custom food for your homemade pizza.
