Duplicate Entries in Database
Within FitDay.com, if you search on "fennel bulb raw", you will find multiple entries for various forms of the food; however, up top, you will notice that there are two entries for "fennel bulb raw" specifically, both differing ONLY in a comma placement:
Fennel bulb, raw (1 oz = 4.5 calories) :) http://www.fitday.com/fitness/FoodVi...dds2-f75109010 Fennel, bulb, raw (1 oz = 8.8 calories) :( http://www.fitday.com/fitness/FoodVi...=s-sr19-f11957 It wouldn't be so bad and I wouldn't care so long as the calories matched up in the serving size, but they don't. That's problematic and makes me question the validity of other entries or more common things, like green beans or lettuce, which are both so varied. |
Thank you for pointing that out. I'm sure in a database with thousands of records there are bound to be some inconsistancies. Even food nutritional lables have been found to be, in some cases, grossly inaccurate.
Unless there is a big difference, I don't lose much (any) sleep over it. I do, agree that it would be a good idea to clean up the database as much as possible and I will create a thread for the admins. Regards, Michael |
