Good evening all,

New member here. Hope you are all well!

Just looking for a little bit of advice on calorie intake.

After inputting all of my food data I have found that I am only eating ~2000 calories a day. I drink 4l of water a day. On top of that, the Harris Benedict Equation (Not too sure if this is recommended?) suggests that I should be eating 2900 calories to fuel my days. My BMI is ~20 and I am a 24 year old male.

You see, I have been cycling approximately 16 miles in total to work each day and I also do a lot of climbing and running.

Obviously I would not be posting here unless I wanted some advice, and so here is my problem. I have been experiencing headaches every morning for the past two years. Without going into too much detail (unless requested), is it possible for this deficit to cause numerous ailments including headaches?

If so, is bridging the gap enough or should I be eating more than ~2900 to recover?

Thanks for your time.

GD.

P.S. If this needs to move to another forum, I apologise in advance.

I love the program, but how come if I want to look up a single raspberry or black berry I have to wade through lists of pies and cereals and candy bars?
If I want to find out the calories in a table spoon of pure cacao, I get lists of fattening treats, cookies, chocolate bars and prepared foods.

Surely if someone is using this program they are already aware of the fact that they shouldn't even consider eating these things.

It would be nice if the simple elements were listed before all of the processed things. For example, if I enter "strawberry" the first food to come up should be a strawberry, not jam or pies etc.

The extended food lists don't reflect most Canadian palates either - basic Italian or French raw materials are not listed, things like capers, bocconcini, truffles (the mushroom kind),fiddleheads, and other common items are not to be found.

That being said - I still find it to be tremendously helpful.

My goals are simple too. I'm going back to logging calories this week.
1. Calories averaging under 1400 day
2. 30-min extra movement a day
3. No sugar, white flour

I just came across Fitday by accident, really, but thought maybe it's what I need to lose weight. I eat healthy on the whole, am pretty current about nutrition, exercise regularly (mostly yoga, but some cardio, too, though I' sure I need to add more), and yet, I cannot seem to lose weight. I feel like if I breath air, I gain another pound! I'm fifty, but haven't (yet) hit menopause, so I keep thinking maybe my body is preparing for that. If I'm honest with myself, I know that I do overeat at times. Usually healthy stuff--hummus, nuts, Indian food (basically any ethnic food), but still, overeating is overeating, no matter how healthy the food. My cholesterol is, according to my doctor, FANTASTIC, so no worries there, and my blood pressure is good. So, really, I just have to somehow get this weight thing under control. I think about my weight (and my waistline) way too much--it is really getting me down and I am just plain frustrated! I'm hoping Fitday will help me make the little (or big) changes I need to make.:)

I am a LONG time Atkins follower, but found (like many others) that my
fasting blood sugars were most always over 100, sometimes as high as 120.
I could never figure that out until researching and reading I found out that there is something called Gluconeogenesis and when you consume a lot of lean meats and excess protein you body learns to tranform it to GLUCOSE!

I am reading up on "The Art and Science of Low Carbohydrate Living",
Dana Carpenters "Fat Fast" and Marks Daily Apple and realize that I totally need to cut back on protein and add more fat. I am perplexed tho, after living a low carb diet for so long how to even DO that!

Are there any others here doing this, I need HELP! I have done a "fat fast" for the past 5 days and dropped 6 3/4 pounds, but I want to transition now back to Atkins but with more fat. Thanks Everyone! :)
