Are there any Wii Fitness users?

Just curious if anyone has seen any results from using the Wii fitness programs? We're thinking of getting the system and I was curious if these are worth the money for them or not.

Thanks!

Wii Fit is fab

Make sure you get Wii Fit PLUS, it's much better than the original; more games, better interface etc. Best wishes.

wii fit

I have been using wii fit and love it! I want to get wii fit plus this weekend. I have found it very helpful! I work out using it about 45 min. a day and I’ve lost 5lbs, vie also been watching what I eat, but I’m going to extremes! It has made me more aware of my posture and how I stand on a daily basis, I have found that since starting and doing yoga w/ wii fit my back no longer hurts and neither do my ankles! its great for someone just starting to work out...

Love Wii Fit Plus

I love Wii Fit, too.
When there are too many folks around for me to feel comfortable with the more involved workouts... We can all play the fitness games. Some are more of a workout than others, but ALL of them beat time I would have sat on my derriere watching a show or on the computer!!!

:DUp & Moving... track the food, pretty soon... Looking Good!

I'm also a Wii user and I love it! I've got the original & just pulled it out last week. I'm down 3 pounds & that is the only excercise I've been doing aside from one day on my friend's elliptical. Good luck & have fun!

Wii Fit PLUS ?

I too was wondering if this was worth the $$$ it cost. Is it hard to set-up?
:o

branz24 01-10-2010 06:58 AM

I too play a lot of Wii. I was wondering how I would record it on here. I play a lot of Tennis and Volleyball on my Wii. Ex: If I played Tennis for an hour would I put it on here just like that, even though it is not actaul Tennis?

ihuddleston05 01-12-2010 02:04 AM

I'm new to fit day message boards, and have recently started using the Wii Fit Plus (received as xmas gift). I was wondering the same as Branz, How do you put in the time you work out for. last night I did an hour. Any suggestions?

Personal trainer walking

I have the nintendo DS personal trainer walking and I found it didn't record much activity when playing the Wii sports resort games.;)

Is the yoga on Wii fit any way the same as yoga in a class? I work and all the classes around me are during the day, or when I am busy running my kids around. I have been debating whether to get one or not

RmJ78 01-13-2010 10:53 AM

we have a Wii fit Plus and I think its great - except when it tells you off for missing days of training! As someone who buys things to help her get fit and then uses them for 3 weeks and gets bored the Wii Fit has lasted longer than my usual fitness kicks, if only becuase it cost a whole lot more than the gym balls from the supermarket or the ab cradle from the sports store - I've invested in it so I WILL use it! I also find its helpful for my partner who is very overweight and loathed to exercise. I just wish Fitday had an acitivity on the system for the Wii where you could add the number of calories the Wii told you you had burned.

Christinac598 01-14-2010 12:38 PM

I really enjoy the Wii Fit....I alternate daily doing the Wii Fit Plus and workout videos that I have. After I do the Wii Fit Plus training I can really feel it in my legs and arms! I feel that the workout videos that I have really get my heart rate up and get me moving.

When I record my calories burned from the Wii Fit I chose yoga as my activity and then alter the time so that the calories burned match.

Wii Fit.......PLUS!

The Wii Fit was a lot of fun until I got the Wii Fit Plus software.

It's a lot more fun than the Fit. I highly recommend the Plus if purchasing the Wii. :D

Also use the EA Sports Active Personal Trainer. That's also a very good workout.

I'm always looking for ways to vary the indoor (winter) training routine and the Wii fits the bill.

Anyone have any other Wii exercise software that they can recommend?

PS - I've been using a FitBit since Nov. 24th to record my activity and sleep patterns. If you don't know what it is you can find it here: http://www.fitbit.com

So far, besides the Wii, it's the best $$ I've invested in my now much healthier lifestyle.

I received the Wii console and Wii Fit Plus w/ balance board for Christmas. I LOVE IT! I started tracking my food intake on fitday.com at the beginning of October and joined my local gym in November. I was averaging 1.0 to 1.5 lb. weight loss per week, however, in December, I hit a plateau and hadn't lost any weight in three weeks. After Christmas, I added a daily 30 minute workout on the Wii Fit Plus and low and behold, I lost 2.4 lbs. that first week and then an additional 4 lbs. the following week! I'm sure it's my body's way of adjusting to my daily workouts (as opposed to 3-4 times a week before I got the Wii) and I certainly don't expect these type of results this week, but I was ecstatic when I saw the results. My favorite game is the free run. I can just start that game for 30 minutes, switch to my favorite TV show (the Wii remote takes over and guides you through the rest of the game) and before I know it, my 30 minutes are up and I'm sweating up a storm. I still go to the gym, but having my Wii at home assures me that I will get my workout in no matter what (NO EXCUSES!). I highly recommend it.

Wii Fit Free Run

Hi There,

THis is exactly what I do and great results after this first week of 6 workouts in 7 days, only one day at the Gym! I do Free run for 1/2 hour 6 days per week
(sweating and breathing hard and I figure I can always go faster as I adjust)
and 3 days of strenght trainging just go through all the exercises now but trying to figure how to use those best...

I think it is a good workout if you do free run and maybe work up to 2x a day
free run....but after a few months, in the spring, maybe I'll see if I can take my jog outside....in the past I have ony speedwalked outside.

Wiifit is great because I don't have to go anywhere or worry at all about wha I am wearin so takes much less time out of my day!

Good Luck!

lunarbaby66 01-21-2010 05:09 AM

I love my Wii Fit Plus!! I also got it for Christmas and now I'm addicted. (I can think of worse things to be addicted to, LOL). I love the fact that I can change up my routine every day. I get bored with working out very easily and the Wii definitely keeps me entertained. I haven't lost a whole lot of weight but I've lost inches and to me, that's what matters most. Because of the Wii Fit I am also more concious of my center of balance and have alleviated some knee problems I've had for years. I believe it is a great tool/investment for someone who is tired of being a couch potato and wants to get moving.

new wii for xmas

I also got a Wii and the wit fit plus for xmas. I have since used it for 30 minutes 5-6 times a week since - i have not gotten bored and even when I think I'll only do my daily test, I get motivated to do the workout since I have hooked it up. I customized a yoga routine to start and try to do 20 minutes of an aerobic activity. So far so good.

beckysublette 01-25-2010 01:51 PM

simply put,

it gets me off the couch.

it is fun too.

like anything we start, 24 hr fitness, or even wii , we dont maintain interest
at the same intensity as at first.
i am ok with that.

anything that helps me move is a good thing. whether i am regular or not....

gingeybug 01-25-2010 03:46 PM

I just got a Wii fit plus, and have done the yoga, boxing, and advanced step. The running and strength training i haven't looked at simply because i don't think I can do them. I hate to exercise! Any suggestions to get motivated?

Wii Fit

I have Wii Fit :D. I think it is fun, but I haven't seen any results. I have noticed though, that Wii fit have improved my posture:). I mainly do the Balance Games because that is what I like to play;). I don't play yoga or strength training often but I'm sure if you kept doing it some results :o.

Cost of Wii Plus

How much do I have to invest to get everything needed for the Wii Plus?

KristynBond 02-02-2010 01:57 AM

Using the wii vs. wii fit

I love my wii. To be honest, I enjoy the other games more than the wii fit, but I really like my wii fit too. I find that the wii fit activities aren't enough of a workout for me, but they're still enjoyable. The game I use for exercise a lot is "Just Dance". It's a ton of fun, and you get a good workout. I look like an idiot while I'm playing this game, but I think everyone does.

I do highly recommend the wii for working out....

KeshKa 02-04-2010 10:21 AM

I am a disabled vet with two shot legs and massive thyroid issues (big as the good year blimp) I can't run anymore, but i shuffle on the jog, and that gets me sweating, so thats good, don't talk about it, just try it.....

KeshKa 02-04-2010 10:43 AM

depends on what you need.
wii for one person is 200 and fitplus and balance board is 100
now I got mine with the activity bundle for 2 includs sports pack and the balance board with wii fitpluss from sams club saved like 50 bucks or so. I also got the recharchable batterie pack for the remotes, and then later the sports resort with wii plus, and dance revolution and pad, now the pad is on the small side, like for kids or some asian dude. I don't have big feat just average 8 1/2 - 9 depending on shoe, I danced for years but not used to my foot motion being limited to such a tiny space. anyways look up wii on the net but thing sams club is your better deal with walmart a close second if you don't have a sams card

dporrello 02-18-2010 01:13 AM

How does the yoga work? I like to be spotted so that I know what I am doing is correct. And for the running, I assume that is in place???? So I need to spend $300 to get started with WiiFitPlus. Correct? Thank you!
Debbie

We just bought the WII Sports and WII Fit. Too early to tell about results, but it is F-U-N! More importantly, it does not at all feel like you're exercising...until the next morning (groan).

Downside: It is definitely pricey. The core unit is $200 and the software $100. We had never done video games before and it was hard for us to get an understanding of exactly what we need to make the system work. A young man at Target gave us a 3 minute orientation, and we were good to go.

We already use a weight machine and treadmill, but this WII covers Yoga, Arobics, Strength Training, Balance Games and Training Plus (games using physical acuity). WII sports contains boxing (much more fun than you would think), bowling, golf, tennis and baseball.

It's also great for family gatherings our 5 and 11 year old granddaughters loved it; the 4 year old didn't want any part of it. The adults loved it.

Hope this helps. I'm not able to log on often, but I would be glad to answer any questions if I can. Since I am a newbie with WII Fit I'm not sure how much help I could be, but I'll try.

Nurski 04-01-2010 10:21 AM

Dang I wish I would have seen this thread before I posted my own. It is called Kick butt Wii routine thread.

I love this thing and have lost almost 17 pounds and dropped two jean sizes.

As for the cost. I looked at it this way. I spent 300 on a year Gym membership that I could get to maybe three days a week and had to work out with everyone else. Now I can work out daily and by myself. Changing it up.

The Wii will pay for itself. Plus like someone else mentioned when we have kids over it gets used all the more.

I hope they come out with a Yoga routine game. That would be awesome.

How much floor space do you need for a wii fitness program?

I have space to jog in place in front of the TV, and do a bit of movement, but if involve having to move around much more than that, I don't have any open spaces like that in my house. Well, in my bedroom, I have an area on the floor just big enough to do some lying down exercises, but putting a wii or TV in there isn't an option.

The board you stand on is about 12 inches by 24 inches. 90% of the exercises are done on that.

Some of the Yoga takes about a 5 foot by two foot space. If you can lay down flat you have enough room.

Hope that helps
