abby, don't worry. Unless the club's focus is on high performance, there will be a wide range of abilities. You might even get yourself a training partner.

...And if you don't like it, or don't feel that you fit in after several get togethers, you don't have to stick with it. But given how how much you enjoy challenging yourself and how quickly you fall in love with new activities, I suspect you will find yet another addiction .

10 mile trail race coming up quickly - May 5. I certainly have the distance, but this one is all hills, 3 up, 5 down, and 2 back up again. All at 5000 feet. I feeling less anxious about a podium spot than I did with the last race, but I still would like to do well - at least better than the last time (3 years ago) when I tripped and pulled a groin muscle which made me walk the last 2 miles in.

Well, I just got up from a post race nap and I'm feeling sore
The race went well- ran it in 2:06:12, came in 739th of 2083 runners, 61/103 in my age div.
Everything felt good up until mile 8 and my right calf started complaining, so I eased back on the speed and cruised for the final 5 miles.

Check your shoes. Are they last year's model? The cushioning materials age-harden even without use.
Did you get fitted at a running store or are these from a big box retailer? The vast majority of shoes from non-specialty stores are not real running shoes.

Are you running on a crowned road? You might also have a leg length discrepancy.

Default OK, gonna stop whining

Wild, wild, west 10 miler - PR by more that 10 minutes!

For the first time in 3 tries ran the entire 3 miles up (albeit slowly, but consistently). Hit the 5 mile downhill and the after burners kicked with 8 min miles. And the last 2 mile uphill was over before I expected - also ran/shuffled the whole way. The last 1/2 mile to the finish line was/is a total battle not to walk - steeply uphill. But I overcame the demons .

2nd in age. I have no idea where #1 was - 3 minutes in front. I never saw her.

Whooo hoooo!

Re-discovered this website. Forgot all about. It's now bookmarked.

Starting walking occasionally last month, and have been told by Doc to loose 20 in 4 months - and walk EVERY day. Walking 1 hr daily now, up from the odd 30 minutes. Did 1 hr 40 minutes today.
