Anyone on here doing p90x??
#232
My boss has been having good results with Insanity. We both got the P90X but haven't done it yet. Really, I watched the first DVD and I don't think I'm close to being able to do much of it. I think I'm still more in the Sweatin' to the Oldies stage .
I'm thinking the P90X will have to wait 'till June when I'm A) another 25/30 pounds lighter and B) off work until the end of August so I'll have the time.
Regards,
Michael

P90X definitely works. I have been doing it and other Beachbody fitness programs (P90X+, Insanity, One on One with Tony Horton, etc) for the last 2 years and it has totally changed my life...not to mention the way I look at my health and fitness.
The nutrition guide is great as well. I still follow it. It's more of a lifestyle eating guide than a diet in my opinion. That is actually why I started using Fitday. Still continuing to log my food. I have pics of my transformation on my blog if you are interested.
Best!

Sean,
You've had great results and I love P90X but I had to remove your link due to it being a solicitation.
Don't take this personal but with me being involved in P90X for so long I can honestly say that I've never (not even once) had a coach approach me without the intention of selling to me or recruiting me. Yes, it's a business, I understand that, if you'd like to advertise with FitDay to increase your business, please feel free to contact us. If you'd like to offer help without being compensated, feel free to post up pics and if you have videos that don't link back to your coaching page.
Many Thanks,

Oops! Sorry about that. Didn't mean to come off that way. I just wanted to share my results. I figured that it would just get moderated if it was a problem. I completely understand.
Yes I am a coach but I try to use my blog as a place for people to get info on health/fitness related stuff as well. Again, I apologize for that.
I will definitely post some pics on there. Love fitday. I have been using it for 2 years now and it has been a great tool for helping me stay on track. Is it ok to post youtube videos?
Best,
Sean

This is going to sound VERY negative but if you read it with an open mind you'll probably understand (if I could PM it to you I would but that function doesn't work) Once again, not directed towards you at all.
Being on YouTube myself, I've been approached (via the net) by countless coaches. I've never coached (I've always turned down the offers), many of the ones that I know STRUGGLE and eventually quit. When I started out I made Josh my coach. I can't complain b/c it's not like I bought anything from him but I got to see just how generic "we" are to the coaches. Every email was a sales pitch. No "hey Mike, how's it going?" I found my support on YouTube with a bunch of regular guys that wanted to share our experience with P90X without having ANY motive. Why? b/c I believe in the system and I know my "testimony" would be better taken if I had no "dog in the hunt", if you know what I mean. I also didn't want to convince someone that it's okay to spend what they'd spend on car insurance for Sakeology... b/c it's the most awesome thing known to man, and created by God himself . I didn't want to participate in what I looked at as a pyramid, and try to recruit more and more coaches. I merely wanted to share my story and help as many people as I could along the way. I'm sure that my advice and my story has sold some copies of P90X, but I felt like I did it because I whole heatedly wanted to help and wanted absolutely nothing it return, but "thanks".
I rarely go to the BB website any more b/c my in box stays full from the bajillion of coaches that send me countless of work out invites and more friend request that I'd ever care to see. I'm sure they do that to everyone, not just me.
BTW I'm in a commission based sales job (in a field where many that do what I do are not trusted, hell even disliked... no, I don't sell used cars), and to be honest I'd probably make a hell of a lot more money if I focused more on selling. But I'm proud to say that I KNOW my clients, many of them consider me to be their friend. I've helped them and their families and they know that in their deepest, darkest hour, I'll be there for them.
I also wanted to say kudos to you if you are a successful coach, b/c I know it's a difficult job (part or full time), and dealing with people like me doesn't help. Well maybe it does if people just happen to call you after they saw one of my videos or heard me promoting the Horton way. BTW good luck with everything and stay around a while. You may actually like the forum side of things.

Okay, couple of questions, based on what I've said about me (quite overweight, unfit smoker), which BB program would you consider best to start with?
And I've heard they sell supplements and things, is that totally required, or can I replace it with other brands (postage costs from USA is horrible).
Lastly, weights or those resistance band things? I've never used the bands, but what worked best for you?
Thanks all for your replies, appreciate it! (am I allowed to mention my post in the Female section that no one has replied to? If you have time, pretty please check it out. /hug)

Ah, I'm glad you popped up here, Mike.
Wowgirl, Mike has given me some great advice and I feel comfortable asking him anything about it (because I know he's not going to give me a spiel on how I should be spending a poop-load on endorsed products). Take a look at his pictures! Wow. (By the way, I know you're reading this, Mike, and I don't mean to be rude, talking about you while you're 'listening', if you know what I mean).
Michael also has a good point - some people aren't ready for the P90X, but apparently P90 is a good precursor (never done it, haven't researched it, just something I've heard). Perhaps you could add that to list of comparisons if you're unsure about the X.

Hehe, I took ages to submit that last post, so didn't see yours.
I use resistance bands, merely because they take up less storage space - the programs have modifications for the bands as opposed to dumbbells and trust me, you can feel it. They're not 'easier'.
I do NOT believe you need the endorsed products. I think protein powder is quite sufficient, mixed with milk, fruit, yoghurt and ice, and I use chocolate milk in place of the recovery drink as I understand it has pretty much the same qualities.

There may be some that are easier than others but I'm not so sure there is a "one size fits all" if you know what I mean. I just know that I'd never do insanity but that's just me.
