I have never considered veganism a diet plan, but I suppose some people could.
I have been vegetarian for 11 years and vegan for 6 years of that. I have had years where I feel fit and slim and years where I put on lots of weight. This fluctuation reminds me that vegan food is not a magic cure all or weight-loss plan; as a vegan, you can still eat french fries and veggie burgers and tons of chips and vegan snacks. There is amazing vegan ice-cream and pizza and all kinds of processed vegan treats. It's just as easy to pack on the pounds with veganism if you are overeating or choosing junk foods.

Go for good portion sizes and clean, healthy eating; vegans and non-vegans alike.
