Default Getting enough magnesium

HI everyone, I am fairly new to tracking my nutrition in fitday, but from what I have done so far I can see that I am almost always very low (below 50% RDA) on Magnesium daily.

But as I cant tolerate magnesium supplements (tried MANY types - they give me loose stools as they do with lots of people) and I don't get on very well with nuts and seeds either how can I possibly get my daily levels up? I see things like chard are fairly high but it seems like I would need to eat a massive amount of greens to get enough magnesium

REALLY appreciate any advice or help.

Having looked at my magnesium I got 30% of my RDA from having oats with dried currants in it.

I would also suggest maybe adding pumpkin seeds to your food, you get a milligram of magnesium per seed.

Thanks icewithin, yes I have oats from breakfast myself and a few raising, which is how I get closer to 50%, unfortunately as mentioned I seem to find seeds / nut shard to digest.

Appreciate your input

As I dislike seeds myself my trainer told me to try putting them in a coffee grinder and use them as a sprinkle, would that work for you?

It is certainly something I can add to get a bit more mag

I get a LOT of muscle / eye lid twitches, sleep not great etc which all seems to point to Mag being the problem, with fit day confirming it. Could be calcium / sodium as well I guess.

I guess a bit of scientific experimentation would be in order then

google 'nutritiondata' and go to that website (nutritiondata.self.com) They have a screening tool that will choose all the foods highest in magnesium and lowest is something (I choose fat, or calories) and spit out all those lists for you to peruse.

Red face

I have a similar issue. I'm allergic to nuts and possibly some seeds. I have started eating bananas more often and that seems to have helped. If it continues after you experiment, you may want to check with your doctor.
