Katy, all is not lost.
I've known someone who used to be obese, and they lost most of their weight by using these tips:
-Drink LOTS OF water. No sugary fruit juices, pop, cola, or other sugary drinks
-No chips, candy, artificial sweeteners, sugar, or other 'junk food'.
-Go to the gym.
-When eating, eat in moderation. Eat small portions, and if you want more food, wait about fifteen/twenty minutes. It takes that long to have your stomach let your brain know it's full.
-Dump wheat entirely.
-Read Gary Tobe's book Why we Get Fat and What to Do About it.
