Default Creamy diet salad dressings

If you like creamy salad dressing then, like me, the diet stuff is probably not doing anything for your taste buds. Lately I've been mixing 1 TBS of the diet kind into a 1/4 c of fat-free Greek yogurt or to 1/2 c of low-fat cottage cheese. It makes the dressing go further, its still low fat & low calorie and it's very creamy and rich tasting. I'm loving my salads again!

What kind of dressings? I am a big fan of blue cheese dressing which is totally loaded with fat, so it is now a very occasional treat, but I really miss it....

I've been trying the fat-free Kraft and Waldon Farms varieties (not blue cheese though). Since fat free Greek yogurt tastes like sour cream, I bet it would be really good with Blue Cheese. Caesar and Thousand Island are my favorites this way.

Great tip. I recently discovered the many uses of plain yogurt also. It's fun to whip up new flavors of dressings and dips using just the yogurt and a small amount of light mayo -- about 1 tablespoon per cup of yogurt. Then add spices such as Greek or Italian seaoning blends, Mrs. Dash's, or your own favorite spices. This is much better than the store-bought light dressings and dips, IMHO. By the way, what the call "Greek" yogurt is nothing more than regular yogurt that has been strained to remove much of the water. You can easily make your own.

I've been taking 1/2 cup of Greek yogurt and stirring in about 1 TBL of taco mix to make a really yummy nacho dip. You can also use it on tacos or to top taco salad or for veggie dip. It adds just the right creamy texture that you can skip dumping a lot of cheese on pretty much any Tex-Mex dish.
