My carbs are routinely around 50 (I try to go for 40-50%) and I seem to do just fine with the weight loss - carbs aren't the enemy, necessarily, in my mind. If you're cutting out refined grains (white pasta, white rice, etc.) and substituting whole grains, that is likely a good step if you're not aiming for a low-carb lifestyle specifically
