Default Radishes!

I saw some lovely radishes when I went to the store today. I haven't had radishes in YEARS! I got them and brought them home. I washed and boiled the greens on them. When I weighed them and logged the calories as "greens, no fat added during cooking" they came out to 13 calories. Yes that's it! Yay! And I got the great nutrition of eating a leafy green vegetable.

I added about 3 of the radishes thinly sliced to my tuna sandwich this afternoon. That was good!

The rest I roasted. I chopped them up, coated them with one teaspoon of olive oil, dash of salt, and baked at 350 F for about 30 minutes. They were wonderful!

I think radishes are one of my new favorite foods.

I love red radishes! Especially the big ones. I eat them plain! I never ate the green part though. What does it taste like?

Do you eat turnips? It taste like a potato and radish all in one to me. I have made french fries, hash browns and used them for roasted "potatoes". I will have to try roasted radish!

You can't beat the cals/macros if you love them both like I do!

The greens I had tasted good, not too bitter. I tried turnips for the first time recently too and I agree that they are very good. What I did was peel them, chop them up, and cook them with some white potato.

I have never even tasted radishes, although they are readily available in every vegetable shop I have looked in! Can you use them as a veg for dinner time?

Mary, radishes tend to be spicy. They're good thinly sliced as a garnish for pretty much everything. Personally I like eating them whole, but not too many (maybe three or four) at a sitting.

I love radishes as well! I throw them into homemade soup as an alternative to potatoes, and they are lovely that way.

I'm going to have to try making soup with them.
