Hello Neighbours!!!
Well my name is Laurie i'm 34 years old. I have put myself on a diet (if you want to call it that) its not very structured at the moment I have basically just cut out certain things that I was constantly eating every day. It has been about a week and 3 days and I have lost a total of 5.4 pounds. But I feel I need more structure or an understanding about Calorie and Fat intake. I came across this site which I think will be an excellent tool for me!
I have 1 question though...I think part of my problem is when I get hungry I get a big headache...so for me to avoid getting a headache I would eat....But now that I have cut that out I have had a headache everyday....Is this normal? Does anyone else expenrience this? I have been good so far but I really do not want to have to run to the vending machine because I cannot handle my headache....Tylenol is my best friend at the moment! lol

Hi Laurie,
Welcome - that's a really good question. I'll take a stab at it although I may be completely off-base.
Sounds like blood sugar ups and downs. You get hungry, reach for a cookie (just 1), or some crackers, maybe a tiny sliver of that left over cake, or a handful of chips. You're OK for a while and then the headache comes on. Try adding and/or substituting a hard boiled egg, a piece of lowfat cheese, some beef jerk - in otherwords protein in place of carbohydrate heavy snacks. Even if the fat content seems a little high it may slow the digestion and tide you over longer between meals.
Also water, water, water (OK flavored water is fine too.) Your headache may be associated with dehydration. As you probably know the first week or so you are losing a lot of water with those first few pounds. It's a good thing, but you need to keep the reserves refreshed.
If you have other questions or you think I'm full of beans (you wouldn't be the first) try posting your question in one of the other sections like women's corner, or diets - you will probably get an abundance of answers

Great answer Pam. While I don't experience the headaches I like to use almonds for a snack. Only need about 10 of them. I think the good fats the almonds and other nuts contain helps to satiate my hunger. Welcome Laurie and good luck.
