Help please....... gaining weight at gym.
I joined the gym about 3 weeks ago, I have been doing nothing else to lose weight not eating different and still smoking but that all is about to change!!!! I spend 1 hour at the gym and from the equipment I am burning around 400 cal! I go 3-5 times a week. Well I have put on 4 kg ......I am so confused I am starting a calorie counting diet that is why I joined fitday today, but why would I gain so much weight in so little time, I know I have to diet too but I honestly haven't changed my eating and I have hovered over my weight I am now for months. Why the big change and gaining it is such a downer I feel like quiting!

That's almost 9 pounds in 3 weeks. Are you sure that you haven't changed your eating habits at all? What about medications? Honestly that's they only way that I could see you gaining weight, unless at the same time you developed a medical issue.
I'm sure someone will tell you (if they haven't yet) that muscle weighs more than fat, it doesn't, besides gaining 9 pounds of muscle in 3 weeks is impossible.
IMO either you are eating more and don't realize it or your sodium intake has dramatically increased.

It's very easy to feel like since you exercised you can eat a little more. If you just started exercising are you more hungry and eating more than you were? Are you drinking energy or electrolyte drinks? Eating power bars? Often they have a lot of calories that can add up quickly.
Do the full Fitday thing and count your calories from food and exercise and see if it makes sense and modify if needed.
Good luck.
