Yup, ladies, me too. If I totally gave up sugar, I'd never have to track my calories. But then, I wouldn't have the privilege of giving and receiving support from you all. Amazing, how my defense mechanism of rationalization sounds so...rational to me!

For me, sugar is absolutely an addiction and there's a real physical component. Usually when I do buy sweets I get the individual serving sizes in VERY limited quantities. That way I let the manufacturer limit my portion size. I pay more but it helps. I agree with everyone else that not eating it in the first place will lessen the cravings as time goes on. I just haven't hit that level of readiness to totally abstain forever. Yet. But I usually limit myself to once a week when I am trying to decrease body fat.
