I think the brown just doesn't taste as good, imho. I like the brown and wild rice mix. Sometimes I make it in chicken broth. Sometimes I add pico de gallo or salsa, and garlic. Or lemon, soy, and ginger.

I buy brown basmati rice in bulk from my local co-op. I like the slightly nutty taste and interesting texture. Each variety of rice has different flavors, so some of it is just trial and error to find out your preferences. Buying in bulk helps a lot for this -- you can buy just enough to try it once!

When I'm on the road for work, I buy the frozen packages of steam-in-the-bag brown rice from Birds Eye. Its pretty good, easy to prepare and only has one ingredient (score one for whole foods!). All you need is a microwave and 3 minutes.

Here's link to a previous thread (from this past fall) that may help with some preparation ideas and so forth -- http://www.fitday.com/fitness/forums...rown-rice.html

Good Luck!

It actually took me a little while (maybe 8 or 10 servings) to get used to, and appreciate, the taste and subtly of brown rice. Some additions definitely help. A little sauteed onion, garlic, and/or mushrooms. Using chix broth as suggested above, or a mix of different rices as suggested. I still don't like the instant varieties much - but they do come in handy in a pinch.

I suggest you keep trying, it is something of an aquired taste, IMO. Now I prefer it to the bland white rice.
