Okay, Elf, I'm not trying to pick a fight here. All I'm saying is one, chocolate milk is a pretty good post-workout drink with fast carbs and protein in there, plus is tastes good so people will have better compliance than with a potentially nasty protein powder; and two, I think we as a society need to stop being hung up on academic studies proving things one way or another before we adopt it in our own lifestyles. The very nature of science has ambiguity built in - that's what makes it science. Eventually we have to be able to stop waiting for new data and start implementing the conclusions the data point to, whether there's something definitive there or not.

My rules:
1) eat real food - more vegetables, moderate meat, moderate fruits, less grains, less sugar, less vegetable oils.
2) exercise - moderate intensity cardio, sprinting, heavy lifting, dedicated stretching and mobility.
3) live - relax, de-stress, meditate.

Disclaimer: I'm not professionally qualified to make any formal recommendations. I've just done my homework and I'm my own guinea pig. All of my data, unless otherwise cited, comes from a sample size of n=1 (me).
