I am 46, just remarried last August to a wonderful guy. I have an 18 year old son off at college. I have a full time job as an elementary school psychologist. I "work" 91/2 months per year, so I will have plenty of time this summer to exercise, even if I try to get a part time job. I've just been too sedentary for too long, and need to get active. I have always averaged around 1500-1700 calories a day, which doesn't seem like a lot to me, but at this age I guess if I dont' get moving, no weight will come off! LOL I personally don't want to start off "hard core", I am just doing this one day at a time (for the year) and seeing how healthy I can get myself. Of course this is just the best route for me.
Regarding baby weight, when I had my son, I had a C-section, so I was in pain and was sedentary for a while. If I had to do it over again, I would have started doing situps or whatever after I returned to work (8 wks later) because that tummy has never firmed back up again!
